I am trying to plan a trip from MT to AZ and want to avoid EA charging stations and set Tesla as a priority. No matter what I deselect in filters and settings EA and RAN, of which there ain't hardly any, are the only ones that show up in the plan. I know that EA has changed to a "plug and charge" system but I have not tried it so have no experience but EA is sooo unreliable compared to Tesla that I prefer not to charge there. Does Rivian have a financial interest in EA and that is why you cannot deselect it? I know that ABRP shows 99% Tesla charges but I cannot upload the plan into the R1T(Gen 2) or I don't know how to do it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I always just use ABRP to plan my trips for the Tesla and Rivian then just plug the next charger into the vehicle navigation as I’m charging.

Drove from Wa to Wi last year and did not have this experience. Only one EA stop, rest Tesla. Strange

Just did the Rivian app trip planner from Missoula to Phoenix and I got 1 EA, 1 RAN, and 6 Tesla stops. Maybe there is something wrong in your settings? Not sure

Send the ABRP plan to Google maps, then you can send that to the Rivian app on your phone.

You can even manually plan it out with Google maps and just manually pick the chargers you want, then send to Rivian.

Why do you go straight to conspiracy theories and blaming Rivian?

If ABRP gives you what you want, use ABRP and send the route to your Rivian. It's a two-step process - first open in Google Maps then use the share button in Google Maps to send the route to your Rivian.

BTW, Rivian owns ABRP and has no financial interest at all in EA, so why would Rivian be conspiring with EA but not with ABRP?

The *open* Tesla chargers along your route (Kalispell to Phoenix?) are limited. If you constrain the route planner you limit the choice even further. The first thing you should be looking at is your settings. Try using what it gives you as a default, THEN if you don't like the results you can mess with the settings, substitute different charger stops/brands, etc. Pay attention to the "Avoid sites that need an adapter" setting, and the "Preferred arrival range" setting.

I find ABRP to be much better for planning trips that have overnight stops and for when I want to choose the places I stop so that I can combine charging with something else like eating or sleeping. The Rivian planner is not bad, but it's really not designed for trip planning in this sense. You just don't have as much control over settings, or the same ability to choose alternate routes or override charge levels or add overnight charging.

When I plan your trip with ABRP, I get 2 Tesla chargers, 1 EA charger, 1 Ionna, and 1 Circle K. The trip is 1300 miles, 22 hours which includes charging time. The EA in Idaho Falls gets an "A" rating - you should always look at the rating. No reason to avoid this one, but it's easy to change the charger stop if you don't like it. If I plan to stop overnight at one of the campgrounds I know along that route (or choose a hotel with a charger), then that saves me one charging stop so I'm only paying for four charges instead of five. And why would I want to drive 22 hours straight through anyway? Break it into two nights and you can save even more on charging and perhaps have some time to enjoy a sight or two along the way.

The one thing I find most annoying about the in-app planner: no avoid tolls option. It’s too bare-bones of a planner.

Do you have the "I have an adapter" settings set correctly? There might be a bunch of Tesla chargers but very few with built-in adapters.

There are two different "I have an adapter" settings. One for display and another for trip planning.

If you only have one of them set correctly it will show you Tesla stations but never navigate you to one.

I never trust just one route planner. I always use two, and the Rivian planner is mainly used to select the next charger so it will pre-condition the battery if needed.

At the end of the day I find Tesla chargers are most reliable and cost effective IMO. They are adding in on average Two sites a day in the U.S. n Canada! I use supercharge.info to track and plan. I use RAN when available but not nearly as numerous as Tesla by a county mile.
