Question… when I go to the Goodyear website and look up these tires it says that they don’t fit my Rivian. Clearly they must, so what am I missing?

Hi Chris,

There are a couple of issues with the Goodyear website:
• The images currently shown are not the Rivian-specific version.
• The Gen 2 275/60R20 tire size—which fits both Gen 1 and Gen 2 Rivians—isn’t yet recognized by Goodyear's vehicle info tool. You’ll see a warning, but it will still allow you to proceed with checkout.

I’ve flagged these issues internally with the Goodyear team, and hopefully they’ll be resolved soon. I can confirm that the 275/60R20 Rivian-specific Goodyear tire performs well on both Gen 1 and Gen 2 vehicles.

tl;dr - if you're talking daily driver and one tire for most scenarios, the Goodyears are great!

--------
@DayTripping - I had the benefit of driving 3 different sets ups back to back and mirror a lot of what you say.

First up was my Gen 2's 22's going in to service. These are smooth, quiet, and responsive. Tracking and alignment always felt straight. Overall, a good tire but my issue was the lower profile sidewall in city driving, it could be jarring. I felt a lot of sharp hits and wanted more rubber between my seat and the road. On noise, the tires are so quiet that the "normal" suspension and wind noises are more prominent and you'll spend time chasing those down.

Loaner had 20" Pirellis. I had these on my Gen 1 and enjoyed them when new. I still prefer the 65 series profile and slightly taller ride and yes, they get noisy. My Gen 1 had 16k miles and they howled. The loaner had 8k miles, they weren't noisy yet. The noise was more from the quarter window on the door (great way to realize your own car is "not that bad"). Coming straight from the 22's, they took the bumps quieter (less jarring). Tracking, they tended to drift and took more steering inputs. I could be fooled into putting these on again but I know how the story ends up.

My Gen 2 coming out of service had the 20" Goodyears. First miles, it was the prefect blend of both previous tires. 8/10 on quiet compared to 22's (I like a little bit of hum) and same all around good feel on imperfect roads like the 20" Pirellis. Tracking also seems to be somewhere in the middle. They catch more of the grooves in the road but they do not constantly drift as the 20" Pirellis did. I find they do take more steering inputs at speed than the 22's but thats to be expected.

Still waiting for these in 65 series though! ;)

We can all get that if we drive slow!

What's your motor variation, average speed, and if quad, do you run conserve regularly?
I had my worst "tank" or drive in dry weather. I was at 1.63 mpk. In all fairness to the tires, the speed limiter was engaged a few times while doing some wind noise testing and comparitive performance testing between an URUS, Raptor R and G1 Rivian somewhere in Mexico. Where is G1 launch mode when you need it?

Most interested in how tires perform in the snow. We live in the mountains so snow is a regular occurrence for some months.
B Digs had some great snow photos last year. I ran them in snow and and was pretty happy. They aren't a great ice tire though.

It is pretty interesting when you can do an A - B - C comparison. What might be just nuances become more obvious.

I clicked on the Goodyear link above and when I tried to put the Wrangler's in my cart for a 2022 RIT it said the tires won't fit my vehicle. Is this some error with the Goodyear website or am I doing something wrong?

The second one has the correct speed and load ratings. The price is in the correct range. I'll like B make sure it is the correct tire but it looks highly likely.

Turns out it's almost certainly not...

There is, apparently, a special RIV variant. All these tires have almost the exact same name. It's just nuts. I have found the RIV variant on Tire Rack (but they're out of stock), and Discount Tire.

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Defender LTX M/S2&partnum=755HR1DLTX2XL&GCID=C13674x012-tire&KEYWORD=tires.jsp_Michelin_Defender LTX M/S2_Tire&code=yescjsku=755HR1DLTX2XL&AID=13697786&PID=101098512& ($248.36)

https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/goodyear-wrangler-territory-at/p/175323 ($264.00)

"still not fixed" in the 1 day since it was reported? Sheesh.
It's been a thing since the day the tires came out and had been reported many times.
