Laying off service staff is a bit surprising to me when they still can't keep up with service demand.
"service staff" could mean anything, and likely isn't the people working at the service centers.

I gotta believe they realize the one major drawback to buying a Rivian right now is the service wait times. And even if there were actual employees at service centers included in this, they likely wouldn't be ones that adversely affected operations.

Well they are opening up a big, brand new SC here in Charlotte and anecdotally I see more Rivians on the road here with each passing month. It's not all doom and gloom just coz they laid off some folks who I'm guessing were not in mission critical roles. I could be wrong.

Also, anyone else getting badgered by sales to trade in their Gen1 R1?

Wish I was...then maybe they'd offer me a good deal. Right now, at $610/mo lease, it's hard to justify paying $200 more per month for essentially the same vehicle. If it were $200 more for, say, a Max battery, then I'd likely pull the trigger.

Regionally dependent ofc. I don't want to jinx myself but my last 3 requests (across 2 R1's and 12 mos), I was able to get appointments within a week. On par with any other car I've owned.

They have a loan to help that along as well as they know can't live off of R1's going forward at the going price and lack luster market demand for. They need to get vehicles out closer to $40--50k...not $80-100k. The Normal expansion and GA plant is crucial in making this happen to supple local and international. The Risk will pay off. Just have to service to get there and they are sooo close to do so with R2 launching early next year.

I would assume Lucid first. The Gravity can’t be selling too many. Thing is way too $$$ and I’m not sure if Lucid is coming out with an economy car anytime soon. I guess we’ll see how the next year goes for everyone. :(

Seems likely. Which sucks. They seem to make a cool car
I 100% agree. I drive by a Gravity every single day. I’m always tempted to stop and ask if I can just see it up close and sit in it. I know. Weird request. But still. For some reason I love the design.

Glad to see Rivian proactively cutting positions. The longer they wait, deeper the cut.

The market seem to like it too. $RIVN up over 5% on the news.

R2, are we there yet???

Rivian stock is neutral on the news. Big dip yesterday in light of news. Buying at a discount today.

Rivian stock is a bouncer between $11 and $14. Until R2 succeeds or fails. Been my thesis for a long time.

Yeah true 3 row EVs are hard to come by. The R1S is the best 3 row option IMO. And no Elon, the X and Y are not SUVs with legitimate 3 rows
