As the title says; what are the issues we are able to see when completing R1S/R1T deliveries?

Not just in general, but specific to Rivian. This will be based on lessons learned from the field.

Appreciate the insights

Based only on my R1T test drive and my Tesla home delivery , I would not sign off on delivery until I tested the lock and latch of every door, hood, tailgate, tonneau, window switches etc. I would also check all the interior plastic panels to make sure they all line up and aren’t loose (just to document with the Rivian Rep in person, not necessarily to reject acceptance of it’s an easy fix later.

Then make sure you are connected to the car via the phone app and test the key cards and bracelet against the interior doors which seem to be flakey.

And then I’d reboot the car in the presence of the delivery guide and make sure it all comes back online the way it should etc. with the Tesla it was good to know the hard and soft reboot commands in the early days.

The good news is that the fit and finish of the model Y sucks so bad that owners taking delivery of the model Y have already created a checklist, which we can use as a starting point.

Here is a link to just one of the many delivery checklists for the model Y. Of course, for the R1 we will need to have more items added like....check flashlight works, check Bluetooth speaker works, check gear tunnel opens/closes, check tonneau opens/closes, etc. I like @ironpig’s suggestion of rebooting.

Maybe we can use this pdf and add specific items for the R1. It would be great to have a Rivian delivery checklist.

I’d hope Rivian is doing some sort of PDI, unlike Tesla which just assumes no one will notice….

My neighbors got a Model Y delivered a couple of months ago. The panel gaps weren’t too bad and not that noticeable. However, my neighbors did notice that the seats were white instead of black, which is what they ordered. The white seats cost an extra $1k, so essentially they got a free upgrade. The sad part of that is they have two little girls and their car seats are pink.

I definitely wouldn’t mind the person building my R1S to accidentally put in the Forest Edge wood in my Ocean Coast Interior.

Wow! that is some list! I hope people will begin customizing it for Rivian deliveries; once the deliveries start...

exactly. Also hope that Rivian actually hired some 'Car Guys' as Guides or Field Delivery Specialists ... it could take years at this rate to find out tho ..

I'd certainly want a complete test of all UI functions, including mechanical items dependent upon the UI before the delivery team left. Specifically, I'd want to test the tilt and telescope features of the steering wheel and the movement of the air vents. Of course the seats and mirrors would need to be checked.

Also, I want to hear all of the speakers at some volume with a robust source full of the lowest of bass tones and the highest of treble notes, not only for the sound quality, but also for any boominess and/or rattles. Knowing all musical source options and Bluetooth connections work would also be important.

As others have mentioned, most problems wouldn't likely alter my acceptance, but certainly documenting and starting the process of lining up repairs would be preferable to finding these issues 20 minutes after the troops are gone.

Phew, this looks like a daunting task to get done in 1-1.5 hours. I'm going to need to set up a training regiment where my wife and I compile our inspection list and practice at a local car dealer. With only 6 month till delivery we better start training now.
In all seriousness this has been one of my main concerns with mobile delivery; How to properly inspect upon arrival and at what point do you reject and if you do, what then? I do not want to be making payments on my R1T while it is in for warranty repairs for two months. This was a major factor in having not purchased a Model S a few years back.
