Whining noise from rear motors of the second gen Tri

I took delivery of the new 2026 tri motor after trading in my gen 1 quad. I am hearing a whining noise from the rear motors. This is not the standard motor whine when we accelerate or decelerate and is constant even when driving at a steady speed. The r1s is at the service center now, but they are hinting that this is not abnormal. To me it’s abnormal and I get a headache after few minutes unless I play something in the car. Has anyone else with a tri motor 2026 seen (heard) this issue?

Find another tri in your area. Hearing is subjective. Take a ride/drive and compare.

Service center confirmed that the noise is abnormal and is doing diagnostics now, which means the car is not going to be available for 2 weeks or so

Gave me a loaner, but feels weird to have paid for a new car only to use a loaner in less than a week. At least the service center was really helpful with everything

I've always looked at a loaner as a benefit since I'm putting mileage on their vehicle. Yes, tough to not have your toy, but at least you have something comparable. If you purchased from a lot of other manufacturers they would give you the keys to a subcompact POS and act like they are doing you a favor.

happiness is inversely proportional to idealistic expectations... or at least that's the philosophy that's carried me through 20 years of marriage so far.

Well - I wasn’t complaining just add what it felt like and as someone who had a gen 1 I am well aware of the risks with something like this.

our 25 tri had zero motor noise, can’t say the same about other things

Seems like an isolated issue based on what I heard from service. The ride is much better than gen 1 and I really like the new sun roof. Sound quality seems to be a little worse than the Rivian elevation on the r1 (mine)
