Friend of a friend got his car today. Not posting the picture though since it has the person's kid in the photo. Trying to confirm if said person works for Rivian.

Edit: 2019 preorder. Not an employee or related to Rivian. It is a white R1T. In California. Not on the forums.

A mere 14 minutes after I posted my hypothesis. I wish I could say this was the quickest I’ve been proven wrong but my wife would disagree.

Haha. I didn't even see your post. I just thought it'd be of interest to people. But I was a touch surprised myself.

If he isn’t a forum member clearly it doesn’t count… :CWL:

To quote The Notorious Cherry Bombs, "If a tree falls in the forest, and she doesn't hear it, would I still be wrong?"

Since the first trucks delivered to paying customers last month, there's been multiple people on this forum in multiple threads stating - as fact - that clearly normal non-employees haven't gotten their trucks yet, because clearly if they had they'd be posting on these forums.
I don't care to continue this further, about what is stated as fact, or not, but your quote above, bold italicized, is clearly stated as fact too, in which I more or less agree with because it makes sense, but it is something that you, nor I, know to be factual.

We are only presuming these people were paying customers. We are only presuming they were pre-order holders. Bottom line is we don't know. We only know they were current, or past employees. That is why I stated my thoughts as an opinion. You disagree and I'm okay with that, but it doesn't change what I believe, nor will it you.

I hope you're correct in believing that deliveries have been made to the General Public. But, until it is proven and all questions are answered, I will continue to believe none have been made.

As mentioned in my prior comment, A friend of a friend has gotten his today. No association with Rivian

Right. Just suggesting to manage your expectations. I know I wouldn't be able to. lol.
Oy, don’t you go injecting your “reasonable expectation” into my blissful ignorance.

That’s just rude ?

I'm sure you're an honorable and truthful man, but I need proof. "Trust, but verify." ?

Plenty out there on Instagram of said truck. The whole non employee relation is tougher to prove.

Thanks. I don't have Instagram, but I have been able to see posted links. This forum is the only social media I have, if this is considered as such. I will see if I can find it.

I've seen a few comments here that just make me shake my head.

You're not going to lie to the SEC about delivery delays to protect your IPO, that's going to come out at some point and you're going to be held accountable AND you're going crater your stock price. This is just not happening. Also, clearly they are updating the SEC on delivery numbers, we've all see the 2 truck a day numbers.

Also, nobody is cashing out on that IPO immediately (at least on the employee side). Those folks almost certainly have lock up windows. There is no way that they are holding deliveries until after the IPO. Now deliveries may not happen until after the IPO, but that's not going to be related to the IPO process in and of itself.

Other thought: Rivian isn't lying to anyone. When they said they were going to ship in July they thought they were. When they said they thought they were going to ship in September, they thought they were. And, now we here that "real" people are getting Trucks, so at least that debate can die in a fire.
