I’m very happy to see this happening (I live in Emerald Isle NC and have used the Richmond SC a few times). But I wonder how they are getting around the NC dealership protection laws? Frankly I was surprised that Rivian could sell in NC when I bought my R1T in 2022, and really didn’t believe it would happen until it came to my house on a flatbed ?. I have not waded thru pages of legalese in the laws covering this. But summaries I’ve seen seem to specifically disallow service centers unless operated as a franchise.

I was at the Richmond SC in November and they said they were getting around the NC law by not delivering vehicles there. They will only service them.

Not sure about the NC laws but the SC laws specifically prohibit a manufacturer from operating a facility to do repair work. I have no idea how they are circumventing this but it appears they figured out a way, or are daring SC to challenge them.

My R1T was delivered to my house on a flatbed in NC back in June 2022. Maybe this is a change to allow setup of a SC.

The South Carolina law allows manufacturers to perform warranty work without restriction so I wonder if the location is going to be limited to warranty work.
