Seems like the Cybertruck needs some big incentive to sell..

Won't push me to buy one, even though the electricity rates in California are getting crazy high.

Will Rivian offer sth like this later in 2025 to push R1 Quad Sales? :D

Rivian R1T R1S Tesla Cybertruck - Free Lifetime Charging 1735449941892-ji

That is a chunk of change on the CT.

At an average of 2 miles/kWh and 45 cents a kWh that is $22,500 For 100k miles.

You can find plenty of FS CT’s with hardly any miles for $20k off sticker. Plus in 100k miles, you’ve have spent 7-8 weeks of your life sitting at a super charger….no thanks ?

They could dip it in gold and fill the bed with cash and I wouldn’t accept it as a gift. :)

{just guessing on my part}

Not sure how legal is to withdraw something on the basis of being "excessive" without a clear definition what counts as excessive. For example ISPs must disclose how much traffic usage per month IS excessive usage, which can be checked BEFORE you decide if you want to make a contract with them or not. I assume there is a legal reason behind that.

I would. I'd then strip all the panels and take the cash. Then what's left would get the whistlin diesel treatment.

Not worth much for most people. I sold a few Teslas with the referral code and it took me a very long time to use even that amount of free charging. I just don't need to public charge that often.

I had a CT on order, then saw one in person and said NOPE. Very disappointed with the range. Went and got an R1T w/max pack. I can go about 90 miles farther than a CT. The only issue with the R1T was the step in height at 22" at kneel which told me Rivian didn't think about seniors or dogs. Solved the problem by installing Rock Sliders which were freakin heavy, but reduced the step up to 12" for 71 and 63 year olds.
Even with free supercharging I still won't get a CT. But my wife does like her 4th model Y.

The lifetime free supercharging sounds great and I believe its a nice marketing thing for Tesla.

One of the best part of an EV is being able to charge overnight while sleeping and wake up to fully charged vehicle. Tesla knows this so while it sounds like a huge incentive in terms of costs, in reality its probably a fraction of what the costs would be if the vehicle was charged at SC only.

When on a road trip - great. When needing a charge when home electricity rate is high - great. Charging while shopping or dining at a nearby SC - great, and if one lives in a condo/apartment where they cannot install home charger - absolutely great. Other than those cases, only charging at SC - not great.

It is a benefit for sure. The value of the benefit depends on each buyers use case.

The step height is a truck thing, not a Rivian thing. Every truck is going to have the same issue.

Yes, but every truck or SUV I've ever bought always had running boards.

You’re making me defend the CT in the name of fairness which is making me nauseous. With that out of the way the cyber beast is faster than the trimax. You just have to look like a tool driving it around which isn’t a compromise I’m willing to make for a vehicle that’s faster. I’d wait for the quad Rivian which will out perform the CT.

The rest of the post I completely agree with. Elon stepped in it with the CT, there aren’t as many tasteless clowns as he thought willing to drive around a giant doorstop and become an object of ridicule.
