Rivian and Bosch sue each other over electric motors production

Rivian was shady - signed up for a multi-year deal with Bosch without ever having the intention to honor the multi-year deal.

Bosch was short on their SLA of 20k motors by half. What were the penalties of the miss?
Rivian was short on their commitment to purchase 200k motors. What are the penalties of the miss?

This news sounds more like which came first, the chicken or the egg.

Either Rivian seeing they can produce cheaper motors decided to walk away from their contract and found excuses or Bosch one of the biggest manufacturing and engineering companies which is older than RJ himself, wasn’t too interested in producing motors on a scale for a company they didn’t think was worth their effort or a bit of both.

Will see what the courts find.

That ain't quality control, that's supply chain mis-planning.

I have an R1T dual with a bad motor at 1,500 miles, if you need an example of poor Rivian quality control.

I work in this industry and the antics of Bosch (and the entire legacy auto supply chain industry) is typical. Bosch definitely did not act in good faith; this is how they treat all customers especially a small one that competes with their larger bread and butter customers. It's part intentional and part incompetence. Rivian has the moral high ground. I 100% believe their side.

Hopefully Rivian gets a good legal outcome. I have no idea on that. A company like Bosch is more experienced with crafting business deals based on not delivering to the true agreement but still coming out financially well.

I can say for a fact that one never knows all the relevant facts of a lawsuit based on what is public info.

All car manufacturers end up shipping some vehicles with problems, even major ones. It’s the aggregate amount that matters, not individual anecdotes.

Thanks, have an upcoming remodel and was thinking Bosch refrigerator as 2 dishwashers we owned have been flawless

Our LG dishwasher was a piece of crap. What a waste of money. Our Bosch dishwasher is great. Not perfect, but 10x better that that horrible LG. I will never buy another LG kitchen appliance.

Their washing machines are good. I wouldn't touch Whirlpool group after several problems with gas range and microwave. Doesn't leave much ?. I will always Bosch dishwashers. This is for other appliances.
