Am I the only one who steps onto the tailgate to get there? One hand on the side rail, step up onto the tailgate and get into the bed.

The other half has an aluminum casting support bracket that takes up most of the space in there but they probably could make the existing cubbies deeper.
Thank you. I appreciate you showing the image.

- 8 ft bed.

- at least two 20A/120v and one 50A/240v circuits

- a waterproof interior that you can clean with a garden hose.

- make it easy to DIY replace anything that is easy to break/damage when working the vehicle hard.

- a built in storage cubby where you can store replacement parts and whatever tools are needed to install them for in the field repairs

- no plastic parts (use metal) in high wear areas unless replacement parts are inexpensive, easy to install, and readily available.

Coming from an F150 my first complaint was no tailgate step. A Rivian owner friend pointed out you can use the Gear Tunnel doors to step into the bed. Been fine with that ever since. And I love the Gear Tunnel doors as a seat for when I"m putting on my Mountain Biking gear.

There should be a power lift tailgate. Easy to do and then I don’t have to worry about my wedding ring scratching the paint!!! I have seen these on GMC’s and chevys for a while.
Totally agree. My ‘22 RAM 1500 had a very light tailgate, this one on my R1T feels like twice the weight to close!

i would like to see a rear window that goes up and down. Nice clear view versus sliding windo, like my Ram had.
Yes, had the sliding one on my ‘22 RAM that I traded in for the R1T. The up/down power window like on the Toyota’s would be great!

How about just a roll-out manual tonneau cover like the Santa Cruz has??? Also grab handles on the A & B pillars. I’m surprised there hasn’t been a 3rd party mfg that can figure out how to make & retrofit these.

-Ability to lock down all 4 wheels in park.

One of the more glaring oversights when trying to do actual "truck stuff" with the R1; Loading and unloading an 8,000 lb load like an excavator, especially on loose surfaces (yeah, that happens a lot round here) is a whole lot riskier when you can't lock down all four wheels.

The issue crops up again when you have to park on a loose slope to open or close Gates LOL.

Agreed, that may have cost me a lot of money. Only the front brakes locked in park?

I don't have my R1 anymore, but I think it was rears?

My Sierra EV locks one set when you put it in park, letting you then lock the second set via the manual parking brake.

Just one of a few dozen things I am enjoying being back in a truck made by an experienced truck manufacturer. That said, a lot of urban "truck" drivers are not looking for nor need a "real" truck, so use cases vary.
