So far so good. Haven't driven it, but install is complete, live Gear Guard not working though. I'll try again in the morning, thinking it just might not be enabled yet on their end. I am on the most recent version of their Android app.

Have you updated the Android app? Which version are you on?
Also, I thought I read that the gear guard live view won’t work if you are using a VPN, which I think based on the screen shot you might be.

I have priority today because it’s my birthday. But unfortunately, no one told Rivian so the update hasn’t shown up yet. Sigh.
Happy Birthday, young man! The update will be yours soon enough.

Well, we all have priority right now because we all have connect plus! Curious to see what happens after a bunch of people don’t renew
I'm gonna be really upset if my updates don't come by October 16th!

Dear Rivian,

Please stop with the silly "drive mode animation" updates every update. It sounds like there's a very vocal PM who owns that content and keeps pushing for his/her team on the relevant importance. The old real-time animations were much better than these silly line drawings.

I realize that software development teams are a finite resource and I'd like to suggest that people stop working on these silly features and work on things that people actually care about. Here's a few suggestions to get you started:
  1. Since Connect+ is a paid service, please fix the bugginess in Apple Music. This is the absolute worst implementation of anything I've ever seen with Apple's in it. Please begin with music stopping and starting on demand and not requiring a software reset 3x weekly just to listen to music. While you're at it, where's XM music?
  2. implement the ability to choose between different OWM wheel sizes in the GUI without requiring a $150 visit to your already over-stressed service centers. You have two basic wheel circumferences in production, so this equates to an either/or. Use case: it'd be nice to take off my OEM 20" ATs in the winter and run dedicated snow tires in a slightly smaller wheel size that don't cost $450, while also allowing me to put chains on the truck.
  3. Reduce Vampire drain on Gen1 vehicles. These things chew through about 1 kWh/day in wasted energy. That's almost three full charge cycles (over 700 miles of driving energy) per year for nothing...not very earth friendly.
  4. Fix more SW bugs. It seems that every update introduces more bugs that weren't there before.
Thanks and let's all stay Adventurous!

Okay, we've reassigned the person who is mostly familiar with the graphics engine to do these other tasks they have never touched before.

To be fair, I imagine these UX changes were part of the original plan but didn't make it until today. And while I do agree there are perhaps more critical bugs to fix, its these little UX changes that bring a holistic better experience to the truck. Maybe not for the tech geek, but for most it does.

Apple Music on the other hand, needs some love . . . ;-)

Wait….. are you implying that Unreal engine graphic designers don’t know how debug power consumption issues in networked microcontrollers??? ;)

Release notes: reduced the *draw* on all 3d graphics. H/t to cybertruck designers for inspiring simple renders based on magnatile vehicle design.

I would think that Rivian would like everyone to have a look at Live Gear Guard before our Connect + expires, making it more compelling to subscribe.

Avid VPN user here. I had issues with using Tesla's Live Cam over VPN at first, but the trick is to find the right server + depends on the VPN settings and which provider you have that gives you the flexibility to tweak things on the back end.

Most premium VPN services let's you exclude apps to bypass the VPN as a very last resort.

I agree. Even with Teslas the Spotify and other music app integration is terrible. It almost seems like they purposely drop the ball on if for whatever reason.

The thing about those who write off on UI design decisions is that they are often blinded by their own bias.

They need to start using a larger pool of data coming from us the owners vs using a small internal group and thinking that's who represents the majority of owners.

A small internal team is a recipe for disaster. Things get weird really fast.

It's an issue with like artists who might paint something absolutely atrocious and in their own mind it's the greatest thing ever, when it's not.

No mention of:

  1. Removing backup lines when driving forward with rear camera on
  2. Vehicle changing to front cam when placed into drive, despite the specific setting otherwise.
  3. Not showing the blindspot view of putting on turn signal and adjusting audio volume
  4. Lack of accurate GPS location when car waking up at home, causing scheduled charging to be ignored
