I'm hoping that your rep is more accurate as I plan to do a short road trip mid/late October and I'm not buying a 3rd party NACS adapter at this point.

It's VIN matched. I think that rep was wrong TBH. Probably not getting it until January unfortunately.

What serch term should I use to find the opt-in email, if I missed it coming in?

"Opt-in to receive your NACS DC adapter at no cost" was in the subject line. If you click the link to reserve your adapter after you already clicked once before and reserved, a web page loads saying thanks for reserving and no further action is needed.

Incentivizing people to buy. From that perspective it is not wierd. From a 'fairness' perspective, a little weird.

I thought so too, OTOH if there's a pile of them sitting around, it's easier and cheaper just to toss one in the frunk than ship it out later.

**Breaking Rivian NACS DC Adapter News**

Rivian finally has a time table for NACS DC adapters. Here is what they supposedly are telling guides to share with customers.

- All customers that opt-in for a free NACS
DC Adapter will receive it by mail by the end of January, 2025.

- For customers matched to VINs on/after
September 24, 2024, Rivian will mail their adapter 7 to 10 days after their delivery.

- Adapters will not be available at time of delivery.

- Customers who purchased their vehicles second hand will not receive a free NACS DC adapter. They can purchase an adapter when they become available in the Gear Shop. Note: Rivian will continue to honor the request for any non-original owners that we've already told would receive a free adapter.

- Customers with multiple vehicles will be prioritized to receive only their first NACS adapter based on their delivery timing (oldest to newest). Subsequent adapters will be sent after all opted-in owners have received their first adapter this January.

- Adapters will be available in Gear Shop in late 2024 (originally Rivian said Summer 2024).

I reached out to Rivian for an official comment on this news and there was no comment at this time.

I am a May 2023 delivery and I got a email wanting to verify my home address on September 10th. The adpater was delivered last Thursday, September 19th.

I put it in the frunk under the cover. Probably going to pick up a case from Harbor Frieght to store it in.

Pretty sure some second hand owners have theirs already and among first batch to receive. What annoys me more are the folks attempting to cash in on their adapters. First, why opt-in if they didn’t need one? Second, just unethical to profit from something Rivian is giving to owners free of charge. Should be paying it forward by gifting to another owner.

Rivian took al LONG time to get these delivered. I understand some of that was Tesla's fault but they waited regardless. Some needed an adapter for long trips in that time so had to pay to buy one. I don't see their reselling them as taking advantage. Just getting even for the wait.

Not sure its irrational. Perhaps a little communication from Rivian on estimated dates and production issues would have assuaged frustrations.

As one who has been working with the A2Z all Summer, I can’t imagine the “real” Tesla adapter is any different: Get yourself a set of good, lightweight gloves when you’re at Harbor Freight (or anywhere else). I have some inexpensive gloves from the local ACE Hardware, with elastic back and nitrile coating on the palm and fingers.

The adapter gets VERY warm when in use (let’s just call it hot), and you need a firm grip on the hot adapter to take it off the Tesla dispenser connector. The gloves will allow you both a secure grip on the adapter and no heat-related problems with your hand.

I place it directly into the frunk and give it time (30-60 minutes) to cool off before placing it back in its case. I toss the gloves into the frunk as well, and avoid eye contact with the Tesla owners giving me the stink eye.

These threads make my blood boil.. I took delivery of my R1T in May '22 and also bought a R1S in May of "23. Opted on for both and haven't seen anything since. Every time I try to ask about it I get nothing or get explained to that they are being sent out by "earliest deliveries first"..
I'm now seeing people that have taken delivery almost a year after I got my truck get their adapters.
