That Snazzy Labs review was fantastic. Never heard of him/them before, but that was one of my faves for sure.

X2, lot of outlets I have never heard of tbh.

+3 or +4 on the endorsement of the Snazzy Labs. Never heard of them either, but they have 1 million followers. Boy I hope someone gets him to elaborate on what that 40k orders comment source was.

Just found this in SnazzyLab's Reddit thread. First time the optimism/pessimism swing has shifted in a clear direction in some time.

When I asked Brian Gase "if I pre-order now, will I get the truck next year?" He smiled and said something along the lines of, "Maybe... no, I actually really think it's possible. Maybe even likely."

He said in the AMA it was from a Rivian Exec in passing. Seems solid.

Anyone try and power through that Electrek video?

Holy cow that was (I think) worse, than the 10 minutes of B-Roll video.

The Bloomberg review... I'm just not sure what the take away was there. It wasn't really a review, just.. kinda naval contemplation on the part of the writer. It didn't really inform me of anything other than that the author is self obsessed. I'm fine with negative comments and critical feedback on the truck, but.. there wasn't any of that really in there, rather just the script form of "nails on a chalkboard".

I will note, this all has resulted in me adding a few new bookmarks to my Favourites and Subscribing to a few new YouTube channels.

That said, these reviews have pretty much put to bed my main concerns around the truck (that I was concerned could not be easily addressed via OTA updates later). Things like back seat leg room, road noise with the ATs on, ride quality, seat comfort, ease of use of the external components, actual offroad capability, etc...

Really, it's just the bed size that gives me pause, but... it's a 6 of one, half dozen of another situation. I rarely use the full capacity of my bed in my Ram now, and with a full bed, my $100k truck would have to park outside and not in my garage. I guess if I really need a full bed, I can just go rent one from Home Depot or annoy my father in law and borrow his F250.

What's left seems like software love:
  1. Driver+ basically being SuperCrud/BlueCrud (bleh) and less akin to Tesla AP (I don't need FSD, in the R1T, I'm in the Beta now and I have NO IDEA how people can trust that thing. It's cool, and maybe will get there, but... sweet $#@! I need a stiff drink after trying it out).
  2. Dog Mode (seriously, how is an outdoor/adventure truck not coming with that... chop chop kids).
  3. Ramping up charge rates based on use and behaviour.
  4. Overall UI improvements to increase ease of use (over time I'm sure it will change, and the reviews seem mixed on "No problem" or "ARG... WTF is the setting?!")
  5. Additional entertainment items/enhancements to the media control unit (MMIX or whatever they called it).
I'm sold on the beasty.

Now... to really lock on a colour, which I thought I did... when I picked El Cap, but damn that Canyon Red, Forest Green, and even the Silver look NICE)...

He also noted he couldn't get a firm answer from rivian on the 800v switch. ?

I'm still trying to picture going in for an interview as an Unreal engine dev... and then being told "you are making an in truck UI"...

Hopefully, the laggy touchscreen is just a result of pre-production issues and not normality. I've sat in 2014 Model S with MCU1 and it was a horrific experience, the lag was unbearable. What processor and how much memory are Rivian using? Compounded software updates will undoubtedly make things slower as more features are added.

Was good. Only one that poo-poo’d Meridian audio a bit.

But he also did for any OEM system he's ever heard. He seems to have a very high bar in that regard.
I am guessing it's slightly better than the stock system in my Flex (six speakers, of which maybe two still work). My bar is low.

Yeah. I'm taking that as a no then. :(
Same. If that's the case, their website has been extremely misleading. Still OK if the curve is good. Just gotta see what they do.
