Arent they just Polestars with a Volvo badge?

Never could quite figure them out.

Both and neither. Does that help? It is hard to figure out what is shared and what isn’t. The polestar 2 was a Volvo concept car (as was the 1). And they share a platform but then it gets murky.

The base price is now > $80k. No option for tax credit right out of the gate on page 1.

Wife now says she can’t be bothered.

82,500 was my pretend config, but we are almost certainly going to cancel now.

Fumble. Seems like a big “FU” to lose 3.5k just by loading the first page.

This has been such a disappointing development for Volvo. I was initially very excited about the EX90 because I’ve been a Volvo fan for years but it’s just underwhelming for the price. I had the chance to see it in person a couple of months ago and I left feeling very lukewarm, not excited.

The R1S is a far better value.

I was, untill 2 months ago a huge fan of Volvo in the last 9 years: Volvo Xc60 T6, Volvo XC90 T6 Polestar 22 inc rims, and last XC90 T8 recharge Polestar 22 Inc rims....

Service and quality over the market, but after the covid no more "Polestar" Version, so we had ordered ( cancelled and waiting the chek of refund ) EX90 .....

On the maniquin preview all my family was very disappointed, on the end is a XC90 new chockpit and new light with a lidar that you not know when will start to work ! and on the front trunck probably only a macbook 14 keep, because probably a 16 is too big ....

and when i ask why the rappresentative say to me that to prevent kids go inside .....
hahhhaaaa .....

So after this preview same day we where to Rivian of Miami make a drive test, and lease our R1S Large Quad White !

Sorry Volvo, Thank 's Volvo !

With this prices Rivian is More value choice, compare to have a car of the years 2024/2025 than a camufage of 2012 !

Incredible !

I never got my email to confirm and we were day one reservation holders. I am liking it less and less based on the price increase (looks like about +$4.5k from what they were showing before based on the picture above), features (or lack thereof especially at delivery), and specs. My wife just like how it looks, and dislikes the looks of the R1S. I am trying to push her toward the R1S, EV9, upcoming Hyundai 3 row or anything other than the Volvo at this point.

Ended up getting an EV9 Land. Very nicely equipped (more so than the Volvo, obviously the quality of materials is probably different, but the EV9 is not the cheap econo box quality of yore). Price was just too hard to pass up, with dealer discounts and incentives it is about $28k cheaper than the base EX90 we were looking at. The recent price increase, and the removal of features at delivery kind of made the decision for me.

With the first looks at the EX90 saying it is smaller inside than expected (and smaller than the EV9), I really think we made the right choice. The only think that I still have reservations about is the odd voltage of the EV9, and the poor performance with Superchargers (85 kW peak on the current models). Not a big deal now, but when it does get access, Tesla will be a last resort. Hopefully the V4 chargers will resolve that issue.
