With R2 and R3 sharing the same battery pack, I’d guess that the R3 will get slightly better range on each tier due to its assumed lower weight. Very exciting as a future R3 owner!

Rivian reduced the ECU's from 17 to 7, which seems very positive...anyone know how many ECUs Tesla uses?
Just a few. For example, I believe that the antilock brakes are a true ECU. Thats an area where Tesla may buy the complete system

Sad, but I think that was known. Perhaps the VW investment will help accelerate that timeline a bit. That said, priority number one is staying in operations.

I have not been able to watch. Have they said anything about the gross margin per R1?

The graph below shows significant cost improvement, but what does that mean from a dollars perspective? Are they still negative, or not? If so, how negative are they?

It will be very frustrating if they provide data that shows improvements not the actual impact on what matters most: cash flow and profitability.

I don't want them to be another Scout - an auto company with great products but inability to make money and survive as a business. And it would be nice if my stock purchase actually gives a return on that investment. Since I purchased so high, I doubt it ever will, but still.

I think before it was just being assumed, and people were hopeful since so much was common between R2 and R3 that they would just co-produce them in Normal.

VW's investment is just going to silence the "Rivian needs to raise capital to make it to R2 production" people.

It probably will have more to do with aerodynamics. If it has the same battery I don't see it being that much lighter, efficiency doesn't change much when you add payload. Looking forward to the R3X.

Tech can be patented. Marketing words are trademarked.

Sounds like VW needs to do some badge engineering with the R3 and their respected compact hatchbacks. I’m sure people would prefer that over what they have now
