Well, maybe not soft close doors, but a heads up display at the least! I have soft close doors on my BMW IX but really not needed because they have the electronic door openers that the gen 2 now has, so closing the door would be a lot easier. It has been difficult ult to close the Rivian door when all the windows are up and all the other doors closed. It always requires a “slam”

Nonetheless, I did reach out to my Rivian Guide earlier for a separate question, and she said, "Not to worry, as we get closer to delivery, you will receive an email to confirm your configuration. At that time, you can edit your vehicle." ?

Who is your guide. I heard from mine and it sounds like they are going to produce a variety of configurations and when a matching configuration to yours comes off the line you will be matched with it. It didn’t sound to me that they were going to produce specifically to your order. I have an order for a tri, sky blue ocean coast interior.

At these prices I'd rather get a fully loaded Macan EV Turbo for the same price as a DM Max R1S.

Up here in Canuckville both are $155K fully specced. Tri-motor is $165K, Quad-Motor is going to be $180K? ROFL. No thank you.

Soft close doors are something that I don't think the majority of folks buying offroad-oriented luxury vehicles really care about that much to be honest.

Things may have changed over the years, but we've had a G550, GX460 Luxury, and Land Cruiser and none of those had soft close doors or hinges (or if they did, I never even noticed it).

Now massaging seats is a different story entirely. Some of higher-end company trucks my employees run have those & should definitely be included in the top R1 trim level (or any ~$90k+ vehicle for that matter).

How about some real leather instead?

Agreed. Not to mention no massaging seats or soft closing doors. Can you image the quad! Probably 125k luxury SUV with no massaging seats or soft close doors.

I guess a question I didn't research. Is the new upgraded audio the same as existing and they downgraded the base version or did they upgrade the audio from the existing tech?

I think the premium is same as current (which was a down grade from Meridian) and now the base system is a down grade from the existing.

Atmos is comming for Apple Music so maybe that helps the existing, but not available for new base system.

Update: The Rivian Premium Audio only has 16 speakers and 960W vs 17 and 1200W for the outgoing Elevation Audio system.

Disclaimer: I have been happy with the sound system in my launch edition but can't say I have experienced the in-house system.

Meridian is great! I love mine. I just figure at TM and QM these should have at least that level of audio....

Storm Blue. Seems like these two new offerings were designed to go together. I will likely go with Storm blue for my next R1T but I'm on the fence about Slate Sky. I think I like the Black Mountain + Brown Ash Wood better.

Well when my primary music option is Apple Music over bluetooth I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. On the other hand with Native Apple Music and dolby atmos or whatever... I guess we will see if I notice a difference.

Not gonna lie. As soon as I saw the walnut wood, I immediately thought of the Griswold’s wood paneled station wagon from national lampoons vacation. I just can’t unsee it now.

Yeah, I sort of get that vibe. It reminded me of a giant station wagon (Plymouth I believe) that I rode around in when I was a kid. Blue exterior with a matching blue vinyl interior. Storm Blue/Slate Sky all the way.

That walnut wood is a bit creamy yellow for me. Would have been nice to have standard black mountain available too but I can understand their thought of having different interior choices to Adventure trim.

As a woodworker, I love walnut and the fact that it has a great deal of color variation. Alas, when it comes to fabrication shops producing standard trim, stair parts, moulding, etc. the std practice is to steam the walnut, which makes both the sap and heart wood a uniform lighter color and greatly mutes the figure and variation.

I installed log run walnut floors in my house but went with a pre-made walnut handrail and newel post. Fortunately, it's a short run but it drives me crazy to see the contrast between the stair treads and the handrail.

Like you, I'd much rather see a nice dark burl walnut but I'm an old fart.

I was just looking closer and it appears that new Rivian Premium Audio is in fact different than the current.

Rivian Premium Audio (New) is listed as 960W with 16 speakers
Rivian Elevation Audio (2024 version) is listed as 1200W with 17 speakers

So ultimately I guess time will tell how good the new audio is.
