Hi Everyone,
I'm getting an Rs1 for my family with 3 kids under 5 and I'm torn which of these options to lease. The lease price is the same. Should I go with the 2024 quad motor large OR the 2025 dual motor standard refresh? Please help

As a parent of two kids, who are a bit older than that, I wouldn't know tbh.
For me, I'd go with the 2024 quad large. There are definitely real gains in the refresh.

Aesthetics, camera quality, and other nice-to-have features aside, the quad max will be more range than the DM standard refresh on road trips I believe. Currently with the limited infrastructure, range could be important still to your quality of life when it comes to those longer trips.

The camera quality isn't great for sure in Gen1, but it's not to the point where I care.

If you're not planning on travelling over 1 or 2 charging stops, then the 2025 refresh dm standard is probably better. Better suspension and ride quality, and the R1S does have room for improvement on that for sure. It's not bad by any means, but it could be better. That's the biggest difference in my eyes between the two.

Sure I'd love all the other updates, like the heat pump, the interior colors I wanted even before the refresh was announced (white + walnut/natural wood), quieter hvac, etc, but the most important one that would have been great to have is the ride quality.

So if I financially could justify the trade up from my 2024 Gen1 R1S Dual Motor Large, then I'd go for a Gen2 Dual or Tri Motor Max.

But I live in the midwest and plan on doing a lot of longer trips with the kids around here and across the country. In LA, your lifestyle needs/wants are possibly drastically different.

Buying cars is SUCH a time commitment with all the research and buying anxiety, so I feel for ya. Eventually just gotta bite the bullet and go for the best decision you can with the information you have available and make it work!

Good luck. Happy to answer any more questions you might have, from one parent to another =D

Get the quad large R1S, it has a much larger battery even if slightly less efficient.

I would even look at a 2024 DM Standard+ before a 2025 DM Standard. Only reason to get the 2025 is if you really care about the driver assistance system or want one of the new higher end trims IMO.

Or possibly just a 2024 DM Max instead of the 2024 Quad Motor Large for possibly a similar price.

You are leasing so latest and greatest does not matter as much as a purchase would, as you have a fixed window of time you will have it and the residual value will be in the contract. In my opinion a purchase is a harder decision, one would tend to be locked into the vehicle longer and are more concerned about depreciation.

I think you will be happy with either choice.

I have the quad, large R1S and if it is the performance you are wondering about I’m guessing I use 1/3rd or less of the capabilities 99% of the time.

If you do any sort of roadtripping anything under 300 miles of range is truly a hinderance.
I'll re-emphasize this yea. Right now with the charging infrastructure, it's much harder with less range. With the Tesla adapter, a lot of that is mitigated, but I'd still just push for more range if you can if you're planning on road trips. Charging infrastructure might be robust enough out by Cali tho so take that in consideration of course.

I'm getting a refresh, likely the DM Standard.

I already have a quad gen 1.

The LFP battery can be charged to 100%, will have a better charging curve so may outrun a quad motor in a roadtrip as it can essentially hold its max power all the way close to 80.

There just too many benefits of the new refresh to get the old one. I suspect gen 1 values are going to take a hit. It was essentially Rivians open beta
