The design of the Cybertruck is very unique, but that's not what makes it a "gamechanger" in the truck market. It's the functionality and the driving qualities. Sadly, it will take Detroit 5-9 years to up their game to compete on a functional level, by then the Cybertruck will have morphed into the second generation.

Watch Detroit try to copy the Cybertruck, not the styling, but the drivability. They will keep their stodgy styling with the cab distinct from the bed, the body on frame construction. That just means they will never come out with a truck that drives as well as the Cybertruck.

I'm a little surprised how many people are willing to stick their necks out and try to discredit the Cybertruck simply for it's design aesthetics, not realizing that steel as hard and damage resistant as that worn by the Cybertruck cannot be stamped into compound curves. The design is the result of making a tough, damage resistant body. That it looks like a spaceship, a truck from the future, is simply a happy coincidence of the materials choices.

Kudos to Tesla for taking a chance and designing something completely different from what we are accustomed to.
You are not well sir.

My apologies - it’s the laggy steering that’s a game changer, not the terrible exterior design.

Lol. The whole purpose of a yoke steering wheel is to provide quick, immediate, snappy steering response with minimized rotation. Well done, Tesla.
Classic Elon - half ass something and tell his cult it’s never been done before.

You can't turn it that fast! Not fair!

Hahahah OMG the spare! I hadn't seen the photo with the spare ?? Is that photoshopped or is the tailgate down for show?

Dude's really embracing his limited rear visibility too with that sticker

My F-150 has laggy steering, the Cybertruck can turn MUCH faster.

In order to see the lag in a Cybertruck's steering, between the steering wheel and the four wheels that do the actual steering, one must crank the steering wheel as fast as possible from side to side. In a Cybertruck it takes about half a second to go from lock to lock. The wheels take about 3/4 of a second.

In my F-150, it takes about two seconds to turn the steering wheel lock to lock (if you are incredibly fast at hand over hand steering movements), the wheels also take two seconds, a full second and a quarter slower than the Cybertruck.

In actual driving, that means the Cybertrucks wheel's are faster at changing direction than the fastest human in an F-150. As you can see, Jalopnik's dirty laundry is showing, and a few disreputable (or perhaps simply ignorant) Rivian fans are smelling it - they think it smells good.

It's this kind of disregard for reality that unfairly gives REAL Rivian fans a bad name.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Ford hasn’t been advertising the F-150‘s steering innovation like Tesla and you have been bragging about those of the Cybertruck, have they?

So if that is the best comparison you can make, it is a FAR cry from the “game changer” label you have done your very best to place on it.

And then you have the nerve to talk about “disregard for reality” at the same time :CWL:

Who Remembers the "Triumph TR7 - The Shape of Things to Come" campaign and commercial? We know how that turned out for Triumph, lol.

I remember the "Shape of Things to Come" campaign! Nice!

With the benefit of hindsight and the release of the Cybertruck, we can say Triumph was amazingly prescient, or prophetic even. How did they know?

You're right about that. Ford doesn't brag about their steering innovations, because there aren't any.

So if that is the best comparison you can make, it is a FAR cry from the “game changer” label you have done your very best to place on it.
You are essentially correct here too. It's not just the responsive steering that makes the Cybertruck a "gamechanger", it's the way the entire package comes together to create truck that is far more functional than any other. It's the versatility in a wide range of tasks, and how fun it is to drive, and how comfortable the cabin is, whether the driving environment is smooth or rugged.

And then you have the nerve to talk about “disregard for reality” at the same time :CWL:
The "disregard for reality" comment was referring to people who push the narrative that the Cybertruck has "laggy steering" when the wheels actually turn faster than the quickest human could turn a conventional steering rack.
