I've noticed there are three different versions of the Tesla Mini Tap for the Tesla Wall Charger Adapter. Here are the links to all three versions:
Question 1: What is the real difference between all three versions of the Mini Tap, and do these differences matter in the cost?
Question 2: Is there really a huge difference between A2Z and these ones for home charging?

Thanks!

My current understanding is the Lightning and 80 amp versions can charge vehicles with inverters that allow 20 kW level 2 charging like the Ford Lightning, and Porsche Taycan. Rivians can’t charge at that rate (the rate is 11.5 kW) and so paying a higher price is not needed. The 60 amp version has a max charging rate of 15 kW

I think the only difference between the 80 amp and Lightning versions is the laser etched logo on the Lightning version

Thanks! Good to know. Any difference I wonder then between the 60amp version and this one from A2Z: https://a2zevshop.com/collections/charging-adapters/products/a2z-stellar-plug

Now, I’d probably just get the A2Z version. I originally bought a Tesla Tap Mini 80 amp in case I rented a car in the future that could charge at 20kW. The Mini casing is machined versus molded. I do like to watch machinist videos-LOL

The Mini is made in America, so if you want to support US manufacturing…

Free Trade looks dead. The pandemic showed outsourcing your manufacturing off shore has a downside. We get pandemics about every 10 years, but most are not as bad as the last one.

I can’t find the specs on the built-in ac inverters in our vehicles to see if Rivian could someday do a software update to allow a higher level 2 charging rate

I'd be idly curious to see them taken apart. Only guess I'd have is one has higher grade wiring internally or better connectors. #shrug

Thanks, really good info. I do like the A2Z bundle, so 2 birds with 1 stone concept and keeping thing consistent with brands. I will be 44xxx VIN so who knows when Ill get the SC one from Rivian :D

I got the Teslatap Mini 80 last year because I have a ten year old 80a Tesla Wall Connector from when I had my original 80a Model S. I figured it didn’t cost that much more than the 60a and I have a couple friends with Lightnings so they could charge faster if they visit.

My answer was one from eBay. Much better price and delivery.

If I had a home Tesla destination charger I would probably get the mini 80 just so that it’s over-engineered and would be built to last for every day use. I also like that it’s made here. I bought the a2z because I will only be using it occasionally while traveling. I haven’t used it yet but it does seem to be extremely high quality for what it’s worth.
