During one of the other discussions in the thread I mentioned the upcoming REI sale tomorrow so I thought I would mention it here. Anyone thinking about getting a cargo box (Thule or Yakima) or accessories should do so this weekend. REI is having it's anniversary sale and it is the perfect time to get something. They will have 20% off all Thule and Yakima boxes and racks. The real deal here is that you can get the box shipped to your local REI for FREE pickup. This is a big deal because the shipping on these big boxes of air can be EXPENSIVE.

I have no need for a roof box, but I've been interested in getting an SUV tent with a tunnel that fully wraps around the R1S tailgate. Oddly enough, I don't see a single one of that type of tent on their site.

I'm not sure I have seen the type that are on top and a rear gate tunnel before, sounds cool, but yea, they don't have them.

They do have core locks for both Thule and Yakima on sale for anyone wanting to replace the cores on their crossbars or other racks to match their cross bars.... although it is handy you can buy the specific core codes on ebay in smaller and cheaper quantities

thanks for the heads up. Actually, decided to pick up the Yakima EXO hitch system instead of roof box since it's modular and not as much negative impact on the aerodynamics. ;-) Apparently, Yakima has a 20% off sale now too, so between REI and Yakima, I bought the WHOLE system and saved hundreds of bucks! Thanks!

I would go with the stock Rivian rack and just put accessories on them. Only reason I would probably use an aftermarket rack (meaning crossbars) would be if I had a car without a factor rail system or the crossbars couldn't handle the weight capacity I was looking for.

Ladies and gentlemen -I have one of these Thule 636s XXL roof box. We haven’t had need for it yet; but can I still use these with my R1S or do I need to get one of those sleek ones you all are getting. Would it significantly impact the range or I can be fine with it?
