Has anyone seen the cost of a Rivian EDV? I wonder what the shelled cost of it would be to a consumer...

I'm not sure anyone knows. I can speculate, relative to an R1T... standard pack (or smaller), single motor, less tech, simpler suspension. Maybe $40-60k? What I want them to sell me... Max Pack, dual motor, off road capable suspension I would imagine in the R1 price range in that case.

I know the MB ESprinter with similar range starts around $70-80k and is 2WD.

What is not on the market is AWD, >150kWh battery van except for the above now, or potentially direct from Brightdrop

Yeah, almost there - peak charging of 120kW is going to turn a lot of people off. That's a slow road trip if you're doing long distance travel. https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2022-brightdrop-zevo-600-quick-drive-facts/
I missed that part, 120kW is insufficient for sure. Granted it's a more comfortable situation during a long charge but still.

The bigger issue for me is still the price though, I love the concept but I could build that van for a fraction of the cost given the right platform.

this is absolutely a space that made/makes sense for Rivian. they already have the platform and the technology but unfortunately its a low volume product and their next one needed to be high in order for them to become profitable.

Absolutely true. The capacity is there to use though, so keeping Normal churning out as many vehicles as possible is still in Rivian's best interest. They don't even need to build the full camper, just build the platform and partner with someone else to do the rest.

To add some info here (will update OP). I reached out to them to get some more information, I got a link to a slide deck (FYI you need to enter an email to view) that has a lot more detail. List of what is included for the sale price:

Rivian R1T R1S Another new Electric Camper Van - Grounded G2 1715877852526-68

Rivian R1T R1S Another new Electric Camper Van - Grounded G2 1715877887466-k0

Rivian R1T R1S Another new Electric Camper Van - Grounded G2 1715877910034-at

I also asked some additional questions, while not surprising the details below (ie charging speed, no towing, 2 passenger limit) are big draw backs.

  • Charging speed: The peak charging speed is 120kW, which is 85 miles in 30 minutes, or 1.3 hours for 20-80% charge time.
  • Battery capacity: The standard battery capacity for the G2 is 173kWh. We include an additional 10kWh battery that powers the home system, as you intuited. The house battery is primarily powered by 1000W of roof solar, and we run an additional 300 watts from the vehicle to the house battery.
  • Passenger capacity: The G2 primarily features two front bucket seats as standard. We replace the delivery jumpseat on the passenger side with a more comfortable bucket seat. Regarding additional seating with seat belts, this isn’t a standard feature but something that could potentially be customized. I would need to confirm the feasibility and safety compliance of such customizations with our design team.
  • Hitch receiver: Unfortunately the BrightDrop (not G2 platform, but the BrightDrop base model) is not rated for towing by GM. The bike rack we're developing would be on the rear step of the vehicle.

So close but not there yet IMO

Well with 3000lbs of payload you could probably get a king water bed in there probably not able to haul anything else though.
