If Apple buys Rivian, they will release an update every year that reduces the capacity of your battery.

"Let Loose" and an Apple Pencil can only mean Apple Pencil Pro support for the Rivian center screen. Love it.

Think about it

LOL I do not think Tim Cook's delegation of authority encompasses $10 Billion acquisitions. Needs board approval.

They would likely need to approve it but they would approve anything he brought to them. Remember the Apple is a 2.8 trillion dollar company. A 10 billion dollar acquisition would be the equivalent of someone with $100 spending $0.35 on something, it's practically nothing.

I don't see how Apple ever buys a car company or even gets into business. The writing is already on the wall with China's EV offerings and even under the best circumstances the margins are not there. Apple doesn't just want gold nuggets they want huge gold nuggets. That is why Apple doesn't make many acquisitions. They have too much money and they are not interested in anything is not a major profit creator and virtually nothing exists right now that does that in any industry for them.

I think people are right about the negotiating of their digital content in the Rivian. Such a thing is certainly not unheard of considering you can get the Apple TV app on Amazon's fire Stick. Maybe it's a step further with some sort of negotiation about our way but there is no way Apple is interested in buying Rivian and I don't think RJ would be interested in selling it to them. I think Amazon would be a more likely purchaser although they have the same problem as Apple when it comes to market capitalization and profit.

Only if there is an actual agreement. IF they do come to an agreement, I think it’s more likely to be announced at WWDC in June.

Apple doesn’t want to own/ run a car manufacturer. This is likely about in vehicle tech like AI voice assistant or even just entertainment options. It could even be about Rivian doing a 180 and going full CarPlay… anything seems possible to me except Apple buying Rivian.

This is what I predicted. 3 cheer!!!
RIVN $13.50 today?
Not only is R1 good car/truck, but also looks damn cool, matching Apple design language. Apple needs a platform to expand its auto driving effort etc.
Iphone sale is trending down. Apple really need to start to explore new things. Think about how much times adult/kids spend inside a vehicle.

I think it's far more likely to be about the 10 years Apple spent working on AI/self driving than anything to do with entertainment. Agree a partnership makes more sense then a purchase.

No solid evidence obviously. interesting to consider, but nothing more than speculation till we hear more....will watch closely....and if they do go with Apple for interface functions it'll be interesting to see how they patch for Android users like me....

Apple screwed up not buying Tesla when they had the chance. This could simply be Tim Apple's FOMO.

That is entirely possible as well vs. Apple outright buying Rivian.

With the current antics at Tesla, and the very possible bust that looks to be the fate of the CT, Tim might have second bite at the Tesla apple.
