Hi - new R1T owners with a 10 year old golden who is petrified to get out of the back seat of R1T which is definitely putting a damper on our enjoyment/usage of the truck. We’ve tried 3 different ramps/steps and none will sit flush usually due to door not opening wide enough. Has anyone had success with anything? We’ve looked at the pet loader steps but unclear if they’ll work and very expensive to return. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Is it feasible for you to just lift him/her in and out? I do that for my 70lb Bernedoodle into the back of my R1S. She can jump up and down but I know with large dogs you want to be careful with their legs/joints so I just lift her up and down.

Unfortunately he’s about 85 pounds which is more than our backs can handle!

Even if he was athletic, that’d be too far to reach. We are considering building something that leverages the gear tunnel seat and extends towards door but will be complicated. This is our last ditch effort to see if there’s something we can buy which will work

Hmmmm,
Ramp up to the gear tunnel then a board or something similar to level with the door.

I have a 74 lb goober that had double TPLO surgery a couple years ago now that loves that the R1T can kneel. And even better when I’m close to a curb so he just steps right in.

You could always get some side steps.

(Half joking), get a R1S as it's more dog friendly for loading and unloading from the rear.

More seriously I think you'll have to lift them in and out of the truck.

I don’t have a pet, so I don’t know how it would work. I don’t think I could ask my neighbor to borrow their miniature pony to try this out. I bought mine to put my fridge inside the cab for solo roadtrip access. It is incredibly solid. The brackets get in the way of the fridge, but for a pet, I would use them.

Wow - that’s dedication! We do use the back seat occasionally but will keep this mind if all else fails
Keep in mind you can remove only the 60 or the 40 side and keep one side for passengers.

Good luck.

Our dog is a senior. She could jump into the back of my Lincoln Aviator when it kneeled, not a chance with the R1S. We had a ramp but it was too steep. I found these stairs and the work great. She has no problems with stairs, up or down, the down side is they need more room extended. Amazon, what do you have to lose trying?
