My Lectron adapter definitely works. I have used it three times at two different SC recently. Have you tried doing a hard reset on the vehicle?

I do have 2024.07.03 and I see you have .02....not sure what the difference was between the two releases.
I think I will try a hard reset and see if that works. The adapter was definitely seated properly.

I even tried that too! I figured maybe the Rivian network wasn’t working and then went directly to my active Tesla app (with credit card loaded up) and chose the specific charger ID and the same thing happened. At both locations.
Did you verify on the Rivian map?

https://rivian.com/experience/charging#map

Seems like it should work

Someone else had this issue and when they went into the Tesla app, they got it to work. Seems maybe some locations aren’t fully ready with plug and charge?

Sounds like you have a bad adapter. Maybe you can find someone else in your area that has an adapter to confirm that?

Your thread is a good example of a pitfall of buying an unapproved adapter, regardless the cause your support options are limited when it doesn't work. Sorry must be frustrating.

I wanted to test out the Lectron Tesla adapter, at a Tesla Supercharger 250kw. (I know, iLectron is not currently an approved adapter by Rivian…), but it didn’t seem to work. These two stations showed up on my Rivian navigation system, I assume they are available for use.

I tried two different Tesla supercharger stations (both rated 250k). I kept on getting the “Waiting on Charger” notification and it would time out and start up again. This happened multiple times and after about tens minutes, I aborted the test in both locations.

Vehicle: 2024 R1S, Max Pack, Dual Motor
My current software Version is 2024.07.02
My current battery SOC was at 64% when I attempted charging
Data and cellular connectivity was fine in app and in the vehicle.

Questions:
Does my battery need to be at a lower percentage in order for Tesla to start the charging?
Do I have the correct software update?
Is there permissioning that needs to be done by Rivian prior to allowing adapter usage on Rivian?

I have seen others successfully use the Lectron (and A2Z) adapter on this forum.

I have had this exact same issue with my R1T but with Electrify Canada, IVY and Petro Canada. I don’t know about Tesla stations that require an adapter but the one I have tried with a Magic Dock has worked.
The charger fires up and seems like it’s going to start charging but then the truck says unplug and try again. Any 50 kW charger works from what I have tested so far. But anything higher other than Flo, Rivian and the one Tesla with Magicdocks will not charge.

I really believe it is an issue in software with the truck but who knows. In Canada where I am there are not many options for chargers so hopefully it gets rectified at some point otherwise I’ll be spending a lot more time charging on trips.

Thanks for the insight. I am going to test a few month combinations and options and report back. I think it is either a bad adapter and/or Rivian software. Issue. I will first start with a hard reset and try again.

Can you show us a picture of your adaptor? You're confident it's a NACS to CCS adaptor and not their NACS to J1337 adaptor?
I am away from the truck, but this is what I was sent. And I checked the specs and it is exactly as depicted. I ordered it months ago and it arrived a few weeks ago and I just got around to testing it.

Truth! While this is not an urgent need, I figured, I would try it out and get the adapter. I am quite familiar with and have teslas since 2012, so, I am comfortable with charging, and traveling up and down the east coast every few months Utilizing Tesla chargers. I am optimistic when the official Rivian adapter is delivered this won’t be a problem, but I am hesitant about calling their support prior to that. Hence I resort to this very active and knowledgeable forum to help diagnose.

I would make sure the Tesla plug is locked into the adapter, if not it will not charge. The first time I plugged into my A2Z it took me a couple of minutes to get the adapter to seat properly so I could get it to lock. After that initial effort it has been fine.

Come to think of it, I did hear Tesla elected to NOT initially activate some supercharger stations for other manufacturers at high volume units to reduce congestion. I wonder if that is one of these stations? You might be on to something.
