I just got my Adapter today, ordered 3/18. I tested it out prior to our road trip at the new v3 Tesla stations in South Lake Tahoe, CA with immediate success!

Things to note:

1) The adapter is tight, so first insertion is tough, then it eases up enough to not be a problem (insert pun here).

2) Make sure to clear off any dirt on the Tesla charger before inserting into the adapter. I found ALL the new stations already had crud on them. People seem to be nice enough to rub them in the dirt before putting it back.

3) Taking the last stall is the best option for space. If one isn’t available, you can pull up pretty close to a neighbor if they approve like this awesome guy next to me in the picture below. Even this stretches the cord, but it will work.

4) I can only start charging from the app. I don’t see anywhere in the vehicle software to start charging. Maybe someone here knows if that is a limitation in the vehicle software or if my pea brain is malfunctioning?

Overall, it was easy and a good experence! If anyone has any doubts about the A2Z charger, I hope this helps! My car did not blow up or have a seizure because of an ā€œunauthorizedā€ adapter.

If you have a CC in your Rivian account it should just be plug and charge.

Yeah I have that, the problem is I can’t figure out how to select and unlock the Tesla charger from the car software. The app works fine for this. It must just be a limitation in the car. I guess you have to use the app to unlock and charge. I even tried navigating to the charger first and when I arrived, I still had to use the rivian app to initiate charging.

what do you mean unlock the tesla charger? You can just remove it from the pedestal. Did it not automatically start charging when you plugged it into the rivian?

I verified plug an charge on a Magic Dock. The Tesla plug should just pull out of the charger, then insert that into your adapter, then adapter into the truck.

Thanks for the update. Did you happen to get a shipping notification from A2Z? I also ordered on the 18th and haven't gotten anything yet besides the order confirmation, so just wondering if I should be watching my email or my mailbox.

See, that’s why I said I have a pea brain! I was used to the magic dock. Yeah, it probably just pulls out. I just went through the app first thinking I had to unlock it first. Thanks! Me smart.

Yea, I got a notification. Depending on where you are in line they should be shipping this week. I know a lot of people ordered on the 18th since that was the official launch date from Rivian for the supercharger network. I bet you will get shipping confirmation this week.

Also for the magic dock you don’t need the app either. Hold the button on the charger for two seconds then push the whole thing in and it’ll come out with the ccs adapter in place.

Rivian R1T R1S First Charge with A2Z NACS to CCS adapter (success!) 1712198778803-zo
Good to know. Before, you had to use the Tesla app to do everything. This is my first time trying it after Rivian unlocked the service.

Thanks for the quick review, I ordered mine on the 16th and haven't gotten a shipping notice, so hopefully that comes soon.

Ordered on the 18th at around noon EDT. Shipping to NY and still no tracking notice. Not sure if they have multiple warehouses or it’s all coming out of one.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
I ordered mine on March 18th, and it appears it’s en route now and cleared into the US. Hope to test it in the next week prior to heading out on a road trip (where it’s a charging desert … except a Tesla SC).
