I don't believe that any of the vehicles were running with Alexa enabled, but I think it was clearly stated that it's coming (if not at rollout, by OTA update).
If Alexa isn't baked in at start, I can totally see people rejecting OTAs to avoid getting it. Lol.

I for one welcome Alexa in the car. Sans AA or Carplay, I really don't want to deal with yet another terrible voice recognition system on a car. I at least know Alexa understands me when I need a terrible joke.

DuckTruck did you get any videos of pavement launches?
I've been lurking here for months, but finally registered! Thanks so much for being so open and posting all of this info!
Welcome to the board, another Austinite!

No, that's what significant others are for.
Oof, now I have questions about what that makes the relationship my wife and I have with Alexa! That's literally about the only thing we use it for.

@DuckTruck, did you happen to notice if any of the vertically challenged folks had difficulty getting in the truck? I have running boards on mine and would have difficulty getting in without them .

@DuckTruck my son(8) and I watched your phone video plus tons of other ones tonight. He wanted to know if we can go to that track too. I think you answered that in another video but I forget… Thanks and awesome work
Edit - your phone one is the best. It should be highlighted everywhere. The sheer joy of the people in the truck is what makes that video awesome.

Ginny,

I think you would be wise to find some aftermarket running boards for your Rivian. If you're "vertically-challenged", they will be of great help to you, no matter the height setting. I will also be interested in them, if not for me, for my V-C guests.

If you're planning on any off-roading, I'd get a model of boards that sits high and tight to the body. You want something that's well-rounded and includes a tucked frame. Make certain the front end is closed and cannot easily capture limbs or other debris.

Thank you for your reply. Guess I will have to wait for a tour event to check this out. I really don't want to do an after market add on.

Honestly,

I'd love it if Rivian would include an option for siderails, at least along the length of the cab.

I hadn't really looked these over earlier from a step standpoint. They look like a huge help if they're deep enough and a have a good texture to them. They'd be a way better option than extending farther out from the side, so long as a vertically-challenged person got the assist they needed for climbing in and out.
I think with the door open, given how the door wraps around the bottom sill, they’ll stick out enough to be an effective step.
presuming the production version is similar to what’s on this test vehicle of course.
