I’d love to have this feature to be able to quickly switch to the camera view via steering wheel, rather than taking hand off wheel and trying to touch the right part of the main screen to enable camera view.

Seems it would be fairly straightforward?

Or, maybe even just a quick double tap of the right steering wheel button, when at low speeds, turns on camera view. No AI needed.

I don’t have Alexa enabled, and it’s still faster to press a button
Shrug. You asked for a no-hands way that didn't take as much attention as a button. Regardless, this is just one way that a voice assistant can make things easier and safer. I don't usually need the front camera when parking, but when I do I'm usually in the middle of turning into a space so I can't take my hands off the wheel or my eyes off the road. I have Alexa do this for me all the time, and it's way better than using a button.

why touch any button or call a command. Alexa don't understand my accent 70% of the time. i want AI to detect parking lot/garage and turn on the parking assist cameras, no intervention needed. lot of cars do that already.

You don’t need AI to do that. My 2008 Lexus LX570 turns on front and side cameras when below 5mph for a few seconds. It’s not intelligent but effective for 90% of the time when I want it.

The R1 could do the same with the right steering wheel button like it does with the garage door opener. At low speed offer a temporary button to enable the camera.

Low speed only would result in too many false positives for me

that’s why triggering it with the steering wheel button only at parking lot speed is a great option

I agree that parking would be easier if the overhead camera came on during parking. I always have trouble centering the truck in a parking space. It takes two or three touch-screen presses to activate the camera. Is there an easier way and how would that work?

Not sure if you're aware but Alexa can detect preset locations and automatically turn on the cameras when you get there.
