I received mine and while it wouldn’t work at first, I called Tesla and they downloaded a Rivian patch that worked. My only question is how to dial down the amperage when you want to match your solar (ie I want to set it to max 6kw sometimes). I can’t find the feature on the Telsa app.

Hi. I have the same set up at home. You will have to dial it down using your Rivian's center console screen. Good luck.

We received our Tesla UWC about one month ago and finally installed it this week for use with our R1T. There was an update available to download when the charger first powered on. So far it has worked flawlessly.

Has anyone seen any similar offerings NACS / J1772 combo units released or announced yet that support NEMA 14-50?

No need for NACS currently (but like that it would help future proof) & already have a 14-50 outlet installed so hoping to use that vs. hardwire.

Need to receive the charger by 12/31 to get power company rebate.

I already have the Tesla wall connector, GEN3 I believe and I need a J1772 adapter for the Rivian. I have read a couple of complaints about the Lectron. There is a TelsaTap brand which is $$$. Can others please share their experiences with either? Thank you.

I have the Lectron 48 amp, worked fine for me on my trip at Tesla L2 chargers. I do not use it every day. I saw it on the Lectron site the other day $20 cheaper than Amazon, not sure of shipping from them though.

You could easily get a 14-50 male plug with a loose end and wire it directly to the Tesla universal charger, then plug that into the wall receptacle that you have, if you don't want to hard wire it.

EDIT: Here are examples that could work :

Just get a J1772 charger and if you need NACS the J1772 to NACS is a very small adapter that works great. I purchased this and use it with no issues on our Tesla. Can hardwire and get up to 48 amps or plug in, very well reviewed charger supported out of Colorado.

Edit: This is the adapter to NACS.

That's backwards. People who need to buy a new Wall Connector should buy the NACS and use an adapter until they only have NACS cars and don't need the adapter.

If you buy a J1772 EVSE today, it will need an adapter for as long as it lasts. It will be archaic once J1772 is phased out. A quality EVSE like the Tesla Wall Connector can last for many years, maybe even decades.

It's like fielding a ball in baseball, you don't run towards where the ball is, you run to where it's going!

I disagree, I have used adapters in both directions, the one going J1772 to Tesla is the easiest one to use.

Edit: It is also the smallest and cheapest adapter.

Yes, but it will be the "forever" adapter once all EV's are NACS.

You do realize what you are saying makes no sense.

If you have a vehicle today that uses J1772 connector, that you may have for 5 to 10 years it is silly to purchase a charger that requires an adapter. Especially when if the vehicle that replaces that vehicle does have NACS it can easily be used with a simple adapter so the charger is not going to be obsolete.

It's not silly because a good EVSE will last most people through multiple cars. Sure, if you already have a J1772 unit, don't replace it until it reaches its EOL (or you simply tire of using an adapter after you upgrade to a newer car). But, if buying a new wall unit, get the one that's already compatible with 75% of EVs in N. America and compatible with 100% of new EV's in two years. Most new car buyers only keep their cars 3-6 years and then they shop for a new one. All new EV's will have NACS before that.

It's possible you missed his point? No adapter is better than even the smallest and cheapest adapter, so since everything is going to be NACS in the near future...

The Count wants something higher than a 11kW charger. Prices are not really much higher for a 19kW unit.
