Pretty (subjectively) expensive vehicle this R1T (but happily bought it anyway)

I never cared much for the 0-60 time of either Raptor or TRX. I always cared more about the torque, sound, feel et cetera... I never redlined my raptors (but came close several times). I used to have a Model S P90D with ~300 miles range and it just annoyed the crap out of me. So the way I approached the R1T was "Let me just get the max possible range". Cosmetic upgrades are subjective... I wouldn't have bought a raptor with standard interior either. I can't get over black leather seats. It bores me and if I have to sit in that vehicle for 3-5 years, why not opt for what you really like?

On a side note, the Enduro dual-motor performance model is faster than both TRX and Raptor. So no need for the even faster Quad Motor even in the above case.

If you plan to go off road you will want quad. Each motor can be controlled individually.

If you want max range and just want the AT tires for looks then its a $100,000+ truck unfortunately. I do like the forest edge interior!

That’s fair. But it’s worth pointing out that your preferences (not needs) are what got your price to $101k. If you don’t need the extra range and can handle a very nice black mountain interior you instantly save yourself $17,050 and still get a much better vehicle than a TRX or Raptor.

Rivian gave you options to keep your price down and you chose to go a different route. That isn’t their fault.

And if the sound of a Raptor/ TRX is what you want, this might not be the vehicle for you. I also love the sound of a raptor but I would never buy one.

I am indeed planning on some light off-roading in replacement for passing on a JL Rubicon Wrangler 4xe (I had one earlier this year but it got repurchased by FCA about 8 weeks into ownership because this vehicle is absolutely terrifying from a quality assurance perspective.). So mostly "nice-weather" off-roading on some light trails. I think the AT package will be worth it in that sense as it also is closer to both the Raptor & Wrangler set up.

I do get that. Range anxiety is real. In case it makes a difference the Rivian range estimates are pretty accurate compared to what I’ve read about Tesla vehicles.

There is no such thing as RJ miles and if the posted range is enough for you then you will be fine. With the various tires the stated range figures are what you can reasonably expect to get outside of winter time when you're using the heater. I have never been in a situation where I've gotten a major amount less than what I was promised range wise.

Best thing you can do is look at the charging infrastructure around where you plan to do your adventures. If you have what you need, then buy the R1T, if not buy the Raptor or TRX and try again in a few years.

Starting in the summer of '04 Tesla superchargers, V3 and V4, will be open to non-tesla EVs. That will provide additional charging options. I second the notion about dropping the max pack and switch to the quad. You get more driving modes available for the Quad than you do for the Dual.

I did say winter was less. FWIW I don't see a major drop in winter time but I park overnight in a heated garage and my trips aren't super far.

I paid $67k for my R1T and $76k for my TRX. The Rivian is absolutely quicker, an easier daily driver and far cheaper to operate but the TRX is a more enjoyable vehicle to drive and without the added hassle of range and charging limitations. Putting both back on the table side by side again and only being able to choose one I think I’d choose the TRX. At current prices ($100k R1T and $125k TRX) I’d chose neither, they aren’t worth that kind of money.

Congrats on the DM-P/Max selection. Most of us that have driven the QM back-to-back with the DM-P agree that the difference in acceleration is almost imperceptible, while the difference in range is significant.

As someone who sold the quad to replace it with the Enduro, I think you will be pleased with the vehicle.

You could save $5,000 if you eliminated the "Performance Dual-Motor AWD"!
I'm confused, what does the base truck come with? No motors? What does the $73,000 Adventure Package include? No Motor?

If your concern is price point, I'm surprised no one else mentioned Total Cost of Ownership. I've got a wicked spreadsheet to help compare multiple vehicles, I'll remove my personal info and drop it in here. But it covers these over the life of a 6 year loan, then again at 10 year mark.
