After 3 tries, Rivian finally fix my subwoofer rattle with high bass songs

Concern: - The customer states; The subwoofer on 3rd row still rather with High bass music, had this addressed at my last service appointment but the rattle noise is still present.

Cause: - Verified rattle noise during high volume bass coming from right rear door control module.
Insulated contact points of both rear door control modules. No abnormal noise heard after repair. Some music at high volumes can cause distortion. This is normal operation.
Correction/Remedy: - Closure Interior Trim Other Labor (1 hour) - Noise Vibration and Harshness General Diagnostic

Distortion is usually caused by lack of amplifier power, under-driving speakers. Without upgrading the amp, you can mitigate by dialing down the offending frequency with the EQ… usually the two lowest freq. sliders.

I’m have a R1T, so my settings wouldn’t be relevant to your R1S. Search past threads on subject of EQ. Other R1S owners have posted theirs and at least one example was done with help of audio spectrum analysis app. Natively, I think Rivian’s systems are tuned to be too bass-biased. Fine at lower volumes, but once you increase volume there just isn’t enough power to drive and control the speakers properly… especially when playing bassy tracks. So you dial down bass freqs with EQ to avoid it and create a more balanced output.

They should just have a built in audio test file and diagnostic screen pushing it to the edge of acceptable performance.

Same here with my 2 week old R1S. Service appointment isn't until the end of February, so we'll see if there's a fix. Hopefully its livable for the next 4 months.

Did they ever changed your "internal audio amplifier" for no reason? They did that on my car 3 months ago and it makes things louder, but rattles with high volums on the front door panel speakers.

Yes I did. All the way through college. I could not have a car until I could afford to buy one myself, after college.

I Took my R1S in for that rattle they said it was a loose clip on the rear door and they fixed it.

When I got my R1S back the service ticket showed they changed my amplifier because of some type of recall,

Now my system is not equal the sound from the rear is so low that I have to move the fader almost completely to the rear just to balance the sound and be able to acknowledge that I do have a sub woofer. I’ve taken it back three times at least and they can’t make it correct I ask for my old amp and I was told they no longer have it. The service manager is being helpful and waiting on the engineering team to get back with him with a solution. And not tell me that it is working as designed because the cheapest car has a better sound THAN I currently have.

My R1S was an early Order and was suppose to have the Meridian Sound System. It was changed without any notification to myself.

I was told at my first service visit that i had the Meridian system but Rivian just have their on covers. That was not true.

I have been in the Rivian’s with the Meridian systems and what a Difference.

Be careful they don’t change your amp.

i had no choice they did it and you have no choice as with the failure to provide the Meridian sound System that I purchased.

How many others have the bait and switch systems?

They fix the rattle it won’t go high enough to rattle!
