I thought the Macan would be smaller than the Q8 as it is currently Q5 size.

I wonder what pricing and specs on the Porsche Macan EV will come in at.
The Porsche Macan EV will share a platform with the Audi Q6 etron, not the Q8 etron. It will be smaller and supposedly start in the $60-80k range (lower end for Audi, higher end for Porsche).

The OG e-tron was a pokey car to drive. I was not a fan.

I've been following the upcoming Q6 (not Q8) etron, that is supposed to be a 800v system and the first of a whole range of cars based on this platform (PPE). This SQ8 would check most of the boxes for me, but the lack of 7 seats is a deal breaker for my situation. Looks nice though, if I didn't need those 7 seats I'd give it a real good look.

I’m not really seeing the benefit over a standard SQ8. It loses the V8 lullaby, gets a 200 mile range reduction and isn’t any faster - all for the same price.
Losing annoying engine noise is a big benefit. And for most people 130 mph is fast enough. I'm skeptical that many people who actually plan on going anything close to 130 would consider buying either vehicle. Also funny for somebody who's driving a vehicle that is capped at 110 to complain about a vehicle that goes 130 being too slow.

The range is disappointing, but perhaps their market research showed that most potential customers weren't planning on using it for road trips anyway. For day to day driving going to and from work/school/shopping, 200 miles is more than enough for the vast majority of people.

However, I do agree with you in general that it seems watered down compared to what they could have offered.

Pretty much all automakers that make both gas and EV vehicles seem to be afraid of allowing their EVs to outspect their gas offerings. It feels like they are intentionally holding back to avoid making their gas vehicles look bad. Because of this I have a hard time imagining I will be buying anything from a company that also sells gas vehicles.

I loved my e-tron. If Audi would have done 300+ range I probably would have upgraded to the '24. They didnt so I ended up with R1S. But there is always that "what if...." thought of the back of my head. I love the way they look.

After living with my MME that has 270 miles EPA range, there is no freaking way I will consider any BE vehicle that is less than 300 miles EPA. In fact, my next BEV really needs to be 400+ miles, like the R1T max pack.

If you can deal with 200 miles of highway range in the summer, this Audi should be on your list. I bet in winter it is less than 150. No thanks.
