Are there any good alternatives to the OEM AT 20" tires that are still snow rated (3PMSF) rated but get better range?
Something like these new Pirellis but in the correct size.

Tire Rack shows a Firestone and a Bridgestone in OEM sizing that are dedicated winter tires.

There are also several 3PMS tires in the OEM Size on Tirerack as well. To see them don't search by vehicle, but rather the tire size: 275/65-20. You can then sort by service rating. Just make sure to watch the load rating.

I don't want a dedicated winter tire, rather something similar to the OEM 20 with better range. I'm fine with a reduction in offroad capability but still want to keep the 3PMSF rating. I'll take a look on tirerack, thanks for the suggestion.

Word of caution, it isn’t enough to find matching size. One also need to pay attention to load and speed rating.

A quick search at Tire Rack suggests a couple possible options that are what you describe. Who knows how much more efficient these would be, I‘d guess 5-8%. Both are highway tires so they would definitely ride smoother than an all-terrain.

Falken Wildpeak AT3/W. Awesome tires that perform well in all situations. Quiet. Great wear. I have them on my FJ and would buy again, in a heartbeat. I considered TKO’s, but steered away from them, as there were too many that had issues with their snow performance.

I have been looking for the same thing without much results. most available weigh significantly more than the 48 lb Pirellis. I want an efficient on-road 3PMSF tire I can drive in the winter and road trips in the spring that would increase range, and then switch to the all terrains in June for some summer off-roading and camping trips.

Best options I have found are in the 275/60r20 size:

Yokohama Geolander A/T G015 (44 lbs, 3PMSF) - only 115 load rating but shouldnt be an issue

Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 (42 lbs, 116 load rating) - not a 3PMSF but all reviews of the previous model I've read said it handles great in the snow, and the tire has tons of sipes if you look closely, and it is advertised for EVs

Nokian Outpost nAT - ??? not much info on this tire yet, but could also be a winner depending on weight, rolling resistance, load rating

Don't be afraid of 275/60/20 ! 115 load index is the lowest you can (safely) go.
I'm definitely considering this size, especially after seeing someone else here go to the Scorpion AS+ in that size and get lots of range back. Maybe even the Scorpion AT+ (20" OEM) tire in 275/60R20 would more efficient enough to be worth it.

I'm very intrigued by that Nokian option and looking forward to more info. Thanks for the other options. If you come across something else, post it here!

Pirelli Scorpion Weatheractive

This option from Pirelli seemed like the perfect balance but they don't make it in 275/60R20. It's also directional which is kind of annoying. I'm considering reaching out to them about it.

We've got the wildpeaks on my gf's CRV and really like them. Just not sure how they would perform on a 7k lb EV.
