I wouldn’t call that a “good“ size comparison. The S was only in the video for like 3 seconds and it was shot from the rear left across 2 lanes of traffic while moving.

This question will not be answered until Tesla finally announces dimensions, etc for their “sub 10 micron” tolerance work of art :CWL:

A woman recently approached me in a Home Depot parking lot. She asked if she could take some pictures of my R1T, because her husband wanted to buy 'that ugly Cybertruck'.
Someone needs to track google searches for divorce attorneys around the time Cybertruck deliveries start. I predict a steep increase.

My wife also hates the Cybertruck.
I'll be buying a Rivian.

Someone needs to keep track of the dudes who would rather divorce so that they can keep the CT. Sad

Most of those guys would rather be married to Elon anyway.

Yup. Not much to be learned from sightings like this. From afar, with perspective and wide angle lens distortion. Two potatoes going down the road.

The only thing this confirms is the CT is still a Muskian joke on wheels.

I was checking out Rivian's real competition today in the EV9 in the showroom. Not going to lie, if I lived within any city limits and I was weighing the difference between an R1S and an EV9, I'd want the EV9 every time. It's a damn good car and the smaller footprint without sacrificing much human room... Just, man, it really reminded me of an electric 4-Runner (without the offroad chops, which, I'm sorry doesn't matter to most American families) from the future, helped that it was the GT line but I can't imagine the bottom trim being terrible either.

Who in their right mind is making the above calculation between a Cybertruck and an R1T? I pulled into an EVGo charger in upstate NY the other day, 3 other Rivians, all with families, 2 trucks and me and another R1S. Literally none of us would have been caught dead in a CT, even if a single one of us could have gotten past Musk (I don't think any of us would be able to in that crowd).

Am I wrong in saying the CT is just not competition for the R1T? The EV9 is a true competitor to the R1S and worthy of cross-shopping. Silverado EV or F150 Lightning to the R1T? Sure. Those are the trucks I see as alternates for towing your boat.

CT competes with the Hummer EV. When you just gotta show the world how much (you think) you're better than them and also reflect something kinda phallic in spirit or at least a middle finger to the world. You can't even hide behind the now Camry/Accord feeling of the Model 3/Y anymore, you're just wearing Mr. T's gold Necklace with Elon's face around it in "truck" form.

There’s going to be many 3-row electric SUVs coming soon. The EV9 is just one of them. Not everyone needs/wants a hardcore off-roader.

This was my point to my friend who I was looking at the car with who was weighing the two. Dude lives in Queens and has a 1 year old and would never dream of off-roading and I'm like, "man, this is the car you want on so many levels."

I lose the argument when it comes to pedal mashing and that's always going to be a pretty compelling argument.

I just can't imagine parking an R1x on the NYC streets having grown up there. It's big, expensive and conspicuous. Heck, I had two aero covers stolen on his block.

Meanwhile an EV9 would totally go under the radar. I made the point to him, "look up and down your block, plenty of $50k+ SUVs, do you see a single Escalade? Imagine the R1S like an Escalade." It's not necessarily the price, the badge/luxury segment matters.

Clearly Rivian needs to solve this by fast tracking the R2x :D (though I doubt that will have a 3rd row)
