So I already put in a ticket with service as just a question, however I wanted to see if anyone has ever ran into something similar.

Took my first longish trip in the truck that required a charge to get home.

AC worked fine while in the truck when it was charging, but when we had about 15 minutes left me and my wife got out to stretch and walk around till it was done.

So truck locked and shut everything down.

When we got back into the truck after unplugging from the charger the ac just would not blow cold, it was almost as if the vent was on. So we turned it off for like 10 minutes and then it started working fine.

So I am not sure if it over heated, or if its a glitch seeing as it was working while charging, but when we got out and it "shut down" is when it just wouldn't turn on.

Any of y'all ever run into something like this? It was around 92 outside so over heat could be the reason.

Our AC stopped working this weekend also.. We did a hard reset (hazard light and left steering button) and it worked when it started up again, but the AC compressor only ran for about 2 minutes. If open your frunk, you can hear the compressor if it is working. If not, you will just hear the fan. We also submitted a ticket.

It's my understanding that the AC system works for both battery cooling and cabin temps. Maybe by locking and walking away, the truck changed and only cooled the battery, then didn't realize you were back. We always have the dog with us so leave pet mode on when charging and we step away and haven't experienced this issue? Have you tried that when charging?

On a side note, it is nice to come back to the truck and have it be way cooler than the 90 degrees it was outside.

I would be surprised if the AC cools the battery also (but I don't know).. There is a large radiator under the frunk tub that I think is there for battery cooling.

See thats my theory on it as well. Like it worked up till we locked it and walked away.

Oh man I forgot about pet mode though! That is an amazing idea!

Cabin cooling turns off if the truck is locked any there isn't anyone in it. You can force it to stay on with the camping mode or pet mode, but by default it won't.

Service just called me and the AC is used for both cabin and battery cooling. They did say though for me though it sounds like its a glitch or perhaps the AC coolant levels might not be right. However since its working currently I can wait and see if it happens again or take it in. So I will probably wait and see.

They did say though for AC stuff call the number so they can get you in sooner as that takes priority for scheduling.

My cabin ac gets weak when it's hot out and I'm dc charging. It must certainly prioritizes cooling the battery.

I drove from Austin to Dallas last Friday mid-afternoon. It was 109 outside (probably warmer on the freeway), but my truck never cooled down below 92 according to the app cabin temp display in the 1.5 hours between Austin and Waco. The air coming out of the vent would cycle between cool (never cold), air temp (which was warm), and just plain hot. When we got into traffic in Waco, it got worse. Quite frustrating.

Loads of R1Ts were overcharged with AC refrigerant, including mine. This means when the battery needs cooling and the cabin too, and it is hot out, the AC system can stop blowing cold or shut down completely. The service center will know to check this.

My R1T came from the factory where the warmer the temperature outside, the more the vehicle blew warm air.
It was towed to the Chicago Center and the Service Director called to say the truck requires 738 grams of fluid and they could only drain 708 frm mine before they flushed it and filled to spec.
Works fine now.

Or by leaving a seatbelt plugged in. ??
