This one feels like a minor one, but I sure can appreciate the cadence and completeness of the release notes.

Im eagerly awaiting some notable added functionality to Driver+, additional apps for when charging, and activation of the built in waffle iron.

Fixed a rare issue in which some vehicles maintained their 12 V batteries too frequently, causing an increase of overnight range loss.
I wonder if this means maintaining the 12V batteries externally would essentially eliminate vampire drain. Have been wanting to play around with that but just haven't had time to.

I’m really looking forward to not hunting for the camera (or other app) when I really need it. That’s a small change that is going to make a big difference to day-to-day experience.

I don't really mind the compressor noise (it's hot/humid where I live, and it's no worse than other vehicles I drive)

But, you do know that you can mitigate it by turning off "auto, " right? I was dinking around with AC settings for camping, testing things in the garage. Next couple of days I noticed the AC noise went away -completely- with the AC working but quietly.

After a couple of days I noticed I had "auto" turned off. When I turned it back on it immediately ramped up to 11 (with a heat index over 100 degrees).
I'm genuinely happy the current version of the software works as you describe - for you. It absolutely does not here. Selecting auto does not mitigate.

+1 for those that love screaming AC compressors in triple digit temps.

For those of us that live in more temperate climates, can we go back to smart compressors that regulate based on ambient temperature?
I think it might be helpful if Rivian restored the previous operation so people who don’t like the current behavior would be back to where they were. I’d also like to see them add a MAX A/C button which would permit the current operation (higher noise and higher output) for those of us who have relatively quiet compressors and/or live in a climate where cooling trumps noise or vibration. Being able to reconfigure controls is a benefit of using a touchscreen instead of physical buttons.

Been asking for the ability to put favorite apps on the bottom, appears we'll finally have that feature. Assuming it is as expected, will be a very nice feature to have.

What's weird is I am in a more temperate climate and it has never made any unusual noises. So this must have a hardware component to it, I am thinking.

I just hope it doesn't mean a whole bunch of 12v failures now. Hope they thought this one out....

Thought for sure there would be a AC weedwacker bug fix.

You may be right that something hardware reacted to the something software such that not all are experiencing the loud freight train compressor.

Perhaps it’s isolated to early builds like mine. Or it’s tied to a certain batch of compressors or something’s out of spec with the calibration or refrigerant.

What I do know is it started occurring immediately after applying 2023.22.0. It’s not a hardware only problem. Same is true for a non-trivial amount of other owners. It was operating with no noise previously so I know it can be fixed and is not currently operating within spec. That is unless the previous no noise operation was considered out of spec.

During a trip on 2023.18, I got the weedwacker sound when the battery was being pre/post conditioned for charging and I posted that I thought this was new behavior. But that was the only time in heard it.

Immediately after 2023.22, my compressor launches into “weedwacker”/“VTOL” mode the moment I press the brake pedal.

Now, we did also just experience the hottest week ever experienced in the history of mankind, but my truck makes all kinds of noise now and the past 200 miles my efficiently has been abysmal hot garbage. < 1.6 m/kWh we’re talking here.

As soon as I press the brake, my truck tries to vertically take off and the efficiently meter dive bombs so hard to 1.0 m/kWh it bounces off the bottom.

Totally there is a software component at play. ?

Again, where the heck do I file software tickets? Must I feign that I have a hardware service request or hang out on Reddit to give feedback about the SW?
