The release used the phrase 'incorporate NACS' which is super vague, probably on purpose. Will future Rivian's have two ports, 1 port, adapters who the hell knows.

I was ready to pay $2k. Now I have to go figure out how to explain I have $2k to spend to my wife, since it is now free. This logic won't work....but worth a shot....can't win if you don't play!

I wonder if they could ever retrofit the NACS directly in to eliminate the need for an adapter. (Paid option obviously)
I can only hope. Resale values for vehicles fitted with CCS likely to be negatively impacted as future consumers will want NACS especially if charging infrastructure goes this direction as it currently appears to be doing.
I would be surprised if they do given the required modifications, but I'd be happy to pay a reasonable amount for it. Fully aware reasonable is more than $1k, but less than.... several thousand dollars in my mind.

Find something to spend it on before telling her.

Reading way too much into it. Multiple ports mean wa$te. Expect 1 port + adapter.

Yeah, I want to see how it performs and what it looks like. Is it capable of 700A? Is it limited to 350A? Is it 3 feet long and floppy?

True but RAN are setup for front driver side ports and Tesla for front passenger side port. So, i would future Rivian to have 2 ports to optimize charging at both places. At $100k per vehicle, it should be doable.

Probably about same size they make now but with the male/female ends reversed like the magic dock. No idea on amperage. Why 700? Future higher volt architecture?

Just saying we know what the SC network does. Who knows if Rivian will be comfortable pushing more than 500A ever or not.

I threw out 700A since that's about what Tesla maxes out with right now. The magic dock is limited to 350A so ~150kw right now. Which is really what's caused these questions.
