What is the secret to cleaning these door panels?!?

I did buy the Cerakote wipes, but I can’t get the damn things clean enough to wipe on a ceramic coat. I don’t wanna bond this sh*t in anymore than it already has.

I hit the panels for over an hour with a drill brush, burned through two batteries and ended up with this result. Still streaky and splotchy, especially in the lower/indented area but better than nothing. I definitely have never had to resort to this with any previous car.

Same thing happened to my trim and couldn’t get it clean. It’s like the plastic absorbed the road grime and had no original sealant on it. My neighbor put me on to Cerakote. Cleaned the truck then wiped the trim and now it looks and cleans like every other trim on every other vehicle I’ve owned.

Just ordered the Cerakote kit myself to tackle this before my trim gets too dirty. Question for you and any others who have used it - did you also apply it to the truck bed itself? Seems like it's the same material so would make sense to do that too.

FWIW ... I put it through a wash, then wiped down each panel with alcohol wipes to get as much dirt out as I could, and honestly, even after that it didn't look all that good. Then as soon as I hit it with the Cerakote it came up really nice.

For whatever reason, my truck bed cleans up just fine, like it came sealed out of factory, so no I didn't do the bed, but I did by the EV1 rubber mat for the bed which is great. But now you've got me thinking that I should do the bed.

Honestly I'm a bit reluctant to apply it again ... I got so dizzy after applying that stuff in my garage I felt sick for a good couple of hours afterwards.

FWIW, I’m going to take a shot at using these magic erasers. It’s still going to take multiple passes. This is ridiculous.

First shot is pass one. Second shot is pass two. Some white residue from the pad embeds “black hole pores that capture even light”, but I think that’ll wipe off easier than getting the dirt out.

Pass 3: Dry microfiber cloth buff

pass 4: wet soap wash both sides with hand terri-sponge. Still wet. Note how the clean side is beading water.

pass 5: both sides dry.

Mr. Clean Magic Erasers have helped me get mine clean enough that I did the Cerakote today.

I spent about 2.5hrs cleaning with magic erasers. They leave white material behind as they pick the dirt out of the pores. So you have to immediately follow up with soap and water.

This process sux, but I’ve been trying to clean these for months now and these Magic Erasers are the thing that worked for me.

What cerakote are you using? Can you link to it?
The cerakote seems expensive and involved.

Says it says 200 washes. We’ll see. Maybe took an hour to coat it. 2.5 hrs cleaning that damn plastic! (Not counting all the failed attempts)

I’ll gladly pay $18 and an hour if I don’t have to wash these things again. Time will tell.

Looks pretty great to me.

I’m not a clean freak, but when your plastic is so dirty and hard to clean that people speculate that wet concrete bonded to your car, that’s ridiculous! LOL

A local detailer recommended Black on Black by Chemical Guys. I haven't tried, but the man swore it's the best thing on the market for those black plastic bumpers.

Ceramic coated when brought home. Cleans up great and stays as black as plastic can.

Same for me.

Ceramic coated for me didn't do the job on the plastic exterior trim after a winter skiing in the mountains.

Car Guys Plastic Restorer did wonders after wash and dry, then application.
