Well, turbo tax will not allow the filing of a return ( with a purchase contract of Aug 12, 2022 ) until the IRS issues guidelines.

TurboTax did this to me last year with the EV chargers credit. Really annoying.

Moved to FreeTaxUSA this year:rock:

I ran into the same delay. TT says they should have the "finalized" form from the IRS on Thursday, Feb. 2nd.

EDIT: Looks like they moved from the above date... again .
A little more history on the subject: TT 2023 Form 8936

yeah they moved the date again. If they don't let me file by end of Feb I'm going to use a different tax software.

If the IRS hasn't released one of the needed forms/publications yet, I don't see how switching to some other software will help. You can't just use last year's form - you have to wait until the IRS has released all the forms that you need. You can't even file manually. This is the way taxes have always worked ...

The form is available, has been for some time. About Form 8936, Qualified Plug-In Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit | Internal Revenue Service (irs.gov)

Is this an IRS problem, or Turbo Tax problem? They’re so cryptic about the delay. I’ve contacted 2 agents and I get a canned response: “there’s a delay in the eligibility to process this form…”.
