Looks like there might be one coming from Earth Roamer. Not gonna be cheap, though:

Very curious to see how that will end up working considering the rear roof spoiler protrusion into the bed space and lack of access for the spare tire compartment, unless they make a fancy interior passthrough option for tire access. Also the fact that Rivian states in the R1T manual that
This vehicle is not designed to carry a slide-in camper.

According to the manual, slide-in campers are not supported. This is probably due to rollover potential along with weight limitations. With a spare, food, passengers, dogs, water, etc. you get to the weight limit really quickly.

My sticker, underbody shield, 22" tires with spare:

Pretty hard to get a camper with stuff on the truck without exceeding the weight limit. Think a camper will need to be towed.

Given the price point they’ll likely include a filler panel that deletes the spoiler

R1T payload capacity is under 1,400 lbs., according to google. And the bed is tiny. Most mid-size trucks (Chevy Colorado, etc.) specifically state they are not to be used with campers.

While I'd wish them luck (because slide-in campers can be awesome), don't want to end up like this guy:

On the positive, no need to worry about rock sliders

1559lbs for me, plenty for a lightweight camper if they build it right.

Pipe dream, a camper where part of it is a battery. Whenever you're ready and in the middle of nowhere, pop it up and plug it in. An extra 100kWh of battery should do it. That leaves..what? 59 lbs for the rest of the camper.

Go down the rabbit hole of camper certs for pickups. Dodge has very specific configuration requirements for camper use. Center of mass must be in a pretty small window between rear of cab and axle, etc.

I would bet that truck doesn’t have a camper cert, and, it’s very clearly overloaded in the worst way

Story for that one was the camper weighed over 5,000 lbs. I had no idea the slide ins could be that heavy, it's pretty ridiculous.

I'd love to see some people do slide ins on the Rivian, but yeah, the payload equation is not conducive.

100% agree, slide in camper is unlikely, I suspect mostly because of the structure of the bed. I mean it is plastic after all.

On the other hand I expect we will see some camper shells on a Rivian very soon ?

Make sure you do the math. When I looked at the Scout Home - Scout Campers, before I got the truck and before the guidance on slide-ins, I was looking at 1000lbs for the camper. Add self, wife, two dogs, water (heavy, btw), food, clothing...the math was getting tight...and that is when I thought I would have a 1700 lb limit. In any case, if there is a warranty shredding potential if using a slide-in, that's too risky for me.

I'd expect a real shell design might require taking all the plastics off to save weight.
