I have nearly 100 devices and zero issues, save for this Rivian. Not a network issue….
It may be a Rivian issue but you may have to change your network if you want the Rivian to connect.

That's easy to answer - Because Rivian doesn't value our privacy - thanks them up to five days to remove the prior owner from my vehicle; meanwhile, the prior owner has access to EVERYTHING I'm going, including gear guard video, from his Rivian app. Yeah, its true. I sent a complaint toe "[email protected]". No way to delete prior owner, or block access without going through the week's long Rivian ownership transfer process.

My Tesla's? Log on Remove the car from my profile, and reset the car to factory settings - Done (less than two minutes).

A BIG MISS Rivian!
There is no Gear Guard access from the app, or anywhere but the truck for that matter. They would only have access to location, state of charge, and control of a few vehicle functions.

I’m not 100% sure, as features have definitely been added (and a handful lost) via OTA updates, but I think the model S had this since at least early 2015 when I bought mine.

I’m certain it had geofencing for the air suspension ride height in early 2015
Thanks for the info!

In that case, maybe it’ll take Rivian a year or two to roll out these features. If they can beat the ~3 years it took for Tesla to do the same, maybe @jebinc won’t consider it to be lame.

That's a huge leap from your experience to "Rivian doesn't value our privacy". You bought the vehicle secondhand. I don't run my own company but secondhand purchases would be pretty low priority I would think. The company is trying to deliver to existing order holders, handling aftermarket purchases shouldn't be their priority and I would be annoyed if it was.
What privacy was at risk too? Didn't you have interaction with the previous owner such that he is already aware of who you are and possibly even where you live. With the app they can see some basic information about just the vehicle, so that also isn't top priority.

I'm surprised Rivian is giving the membership away to secondhand buyers. To me this says more about them not having their system set up to accept payment for the Rivian membership than anything else.

As a PSA, it took Rivian a good 3 weeks to get my private party purchase converted over from prior owner. This was after having a bill of sale, title in hand, and other paperwork submitted to Rivian.

I was polite, played the security card, and still got passed from service call to guide to some other department of redundancy department.

Thanks. No SSID special charters; just six letters. We have a Linksys WiFI 6 mesh system that has 2.4 and more bands. Two teslas and everything else work just fine as set up.

No Geofenced mirror folding - Lame.
FWIW, Tesla didn't have geo-fenced mirror folding originally either. It only came about as an OTA. Give Rivian a little time to take care of the important stuff first. These niceties will come, no doubt.

Tesla has been manufacturing and thus improving their tech for 13 years since the roadster. Rivian is at <1 year with it's r1 line. We all signed to be beta testers...

Someone explain to me why ownership transfer can't be self-service? Read: Why doesn't Rivian support this, perhaps with a quick back-end verification?
