Rivian email update 10/13 on Camp Kitchen, Gear Tunnel Shuttle, and Rooftop Tent

We’re reaching out with an update regarding accessories you preordered.

Camp Kitchen We are temporarily pausing production of the Camp Kitchen as we work to update its design. Our goal has always been to create the ultimate outdoor cooking experience. As our team has continued testing the Camp Kitchen in various environments, we’ve found opportunities to refine the design and make our version of cooking in the wild even better. The redesign also includes updating the Gear Tunnel Shuttle, which is included in the Camp Kitchen package.

R1T Three-Person Tent + Cargo Crossbars + Brake Light Accessory Deliveries of the Yakima Three-Person Tent package for R1T customers are temporarily on hold until the brake light accessory becomes available. The brake light accessory helps ensure proper brake light visibility when driving with the tent attached to the bed and is required for tent purchases with the R1T. We expect the brake light accessory will be available next year. In the meantime, Cargo Crossbars will remain as part of your preorder.

Since you may take delivery of your R1T before these items are available, next week we will be removing them from your preorder to ensure you are not charged. As updates become available, we’ll keep in touch so you have the latest and know when these items are available again for purchase. Anyone get other updates? Looks like it's probably formatted depending on what you ordered. I think I have everything that they aren't delivering yet.

Makes me wonder if they saw the posts here about it and my solution and went "duh!". Very curious how they are going to implement it as an OEM solution. Mine works pretty well but is far from OEM.

I hope this also means they'll fix the disablement of rear sensors when a light bar is plugged in. Having to run my own wiring was stupid.

Also curious about implementation but also not sure why they would delay the tent for this. They are losing business on it by delaying it further, especially if the delay goes past next spring.

Edit: Also curious about the R1S order holders with the tent, are they dropping the tent from those orders? They clearly shouldn't need a brake light kit

I find it interesting that they will be taking all this stuff off my Max Pack order. It implies its because they don't expect the accessories to be available when they ship the truck. Are they that close with it or are they just trying to get me to not purchase them at the original price, which is likely to be a loss.

Weird, I had both on order when I got my truck but didn’t get the email. Did you guys pay for it before delivery? I have not, my guide set it side since it wasn’t in stock, but told me I would get it at the March 1 price

I have another order in for the Max Pack truck that has all this stuff still configured. They forced it off my original large pack R1T order back in March before they would actually sell me the truck. I'm disappointed they are doing it again- I intended on waiting for the kitchen to be available to ship with the max pack truck.

If I had to guess about the Kitchen, it could be partly because the Dometic stove is only rated for indoor use. It's probably dangerous to use it outside in the rain. Not a big concern for us with the awning that we have, but I'd definitely not want to use it otherwise in bad weather.

I got the email and this is worrisome. I know by the time I get my truck, it probably still wouldn't be out, but at least I had it in my config to reserve the price for when it eventually came out, but now them removing it completely and saying production is stopping sucks bad. Hopefully when it comes out it isn't more than the cost of it with the price increase currently. The kitchen is what made me go all in on the R1T too. Brutal.

He is usually very prompt, but said he doesn't have an answer yet. I'm thinking we aren't getting this at the original price...which would be very disappointing.

Really? I was told we'd still get pre 3/1 pricing on the kitchen. My guide also told me we'd get pre-3/1 pricing on the OEM tent minus the cost of the cargo cross bars, which they did send with my order. They removed the kitchen and tent from my order and said they'd "put notes in my file" about the pre-3/1 pricing on these items.
