Short and sweet details.
R1S, 22s
80 degree weather
mostly Flat Texas drive
224 miles
4pm to 8pm ( rush hour hit in Waco )
usually takes 3.5-4 hours depending on kiddo stops/food
This trip was 4.5 hours. 18 min stop to charge a touch, and a 20 minute Whataburger stop.
Pleasantly surprised at the fact that the trip was not crazy longer than normal, specially considering the accident traffic we hit.
hit traffic a few times, stopped one time to grab some juice to ease my anxiety and also allow me to test modes and speed efficiency a bit.
Been averaging like 1.5-1.8 miles/Kw in town driving~ All Purpose moderate lead foot.
Was definitely anxious about range and after reading watching loads of videos, I was being cautious, accelerating slowly and driving pretty conservatively.
At one point my wife asked me why I was driving so slow. Explained as well as I could, but yeah, not my norm for sure.
Austin to Waco
Conserve mode 100%
drove 65-75 mph
used Driver+ maybe 10% of the drive
Averaged ~2.5miles/Kw
Second half of the drive
Waco to Dallas
Conserve mode 50%
All Purpose mode 50%
drove 80-90mph ( unless a cop is reading this then that’s a mistype )
used Driver+ maybe 10% of that leg
Averaged 2.0 miles/Kw
What surprised me most was how well All Purpose did.
There is, what I felt, a noticable difference in being able to “shoot the gap” in conserve and all purpose. Enough that once I hit Dallas traffic I wanted all 4 motors and all
wheel drive going. I grew up driving here and know the value of being to avoid idiots.
I’ll probably mix up Conserve and All Purpose on the way back - mostly dependent on whether I want to stop to charge for anxiety again. But I feel like I could easily
make it back without a charge.
Hope another anecdote for range may help someone. Don’t think I’ve seen many R1S trip logs yet. Figured it might help for comparison or to ease the minds of others on the wait.
