Yep cracked glass. I like the panoramic roof as well but the prevalence of cracked glass has me concerned. Mine cracked without pressure and is only cracked on the inside pane (cracking is not visible from outside and can't be felt). Parked it one night with no cracks and next time we got in there's a large circular crack towards the back.

We had an incidence of this with Honda many years ago with windshields. They were prone to stress cracking on some Accords. It wasn’t a ton of them but there was a service bulletin and we replaced a few under warranty. I think it was caused by an installation issue at the factory in that specific case. It would be probably be best if it happened to be a bad batch of panels for Rivian

I've been lucky, so far. No way I'm selling my Tundra yet, and definitely not taking the Riv off the grid with no spare. Especially with winter just around the corner.

It's too soon to really bag on a first year car company for service. I had a 2014 Model S and of course it had a lot of issues, but Tesla fixed them all and it didn't cost me anything. Rivian is learning and sorting these things out as well, but early adopters have to be realistic about the growing pains.

I bought a Rivian knowing it would need to be in the service center a few times in the first year. It's inEVitable.

So far, I have a punch list of minor stuff that will be fixed in a single appt once the new tonneau parts come in, but until then I'm going to enjoy the truck and not bother to take it in for little stuff that doesn't really impact the enjoyment of driving this thing on and off road.
Sorry you're frustrated. I will just say we have had a Tesla Model 3 , 2020, and have had no issues. Order and delivery was smooth as silk. We do have a RIT reservation and are looking forward to a new Rivian... Good luck to all...

Since we no longer need a second car for a work commute, we made the choice to downsize to one vehicle. I thought that the Rivian would be a one-for-one replacement of my existing ICE vehicle but after reading through this thread, it looks like that is a foolish and very risky proposition.

I have my V-strom as a motorized back-up vehicle, but that only works when there's no snow or ice to contend with. I'm actually considering getting a Ural with a powered sidecar, which will allow me to take the dogs with me, and to operate (very carefully!) in light snow. As a last resort, I may have to keep the Telluride, at least for the first year or so after the Rivian is delivered.

Of course, there's a better than even chance that my 2023 delivery will slip to 2024, so perhaps that will be time enough for Rivian to work out their teething problems. Perhaps even time enough for them to open a SC in the 5th largest city in the country.

My advice is to this is:

I think if you make it past the first couple months you are probably good. But the two trucks I’ve had assigned to me had major problems. My sample of two is ? Hell No!

Be warned, I’m bitter and jealous of people who haven’t had problems.

yeah that’s the solution. Don’t try to make improvement, just leave. I hope if youre married you took your vows a little more seriously;)
I hate to pile on but don't you think the marriage comparison is a bit melodramatic? I mean I get the little "kidding" winky face at the end but even making that comparison is a bit much. I don't know about the rest of you guys but I didn't vow to love honor and obey my Rivian. It's a product that I will drive so long as it serves my needs and then I will sell it the second it doesn't.

What underbody stuff?
They called me (others have gotten the same call apparently also) about the need to check underbody fasteners. Sone people say it’s A-arm bolts or axle nuts but they make it sound like it’s just fasteners for the underbody panels In the call I received. They did seem to really want to do the inspection ASAP though at least in my case.

Yeah if you’ve never owned an EV there is a bit of anxiety at first but it lessens and you get used to the new reality of “refueling” vs what you’ve been used to for so long. regardless of my political leanings I do agree there is a need to fund charging infrastructure if the government wants to push the future of transportation towards EV’s though.

Ioniq 5 / XLT Lightning Standard
To put things in perspective,

Got my f150 lightning delivered and picked it up on a weekend early August.

A few imperfections required some work.

Dust nibs on tailgate.

Some white overspray on a black plastic fitting the runs under the windshield.

B pillar had numerous scuffs.

I'm getting these fixed almost a month after delivery because their first appointment was 9/11. Happens to be when I was thinking about driving it to Disneyland. Will trial a road trip another day.

Detail shop will smooth out dustnibs.

They ordered replacement for the plastic under windshield and new b pillar that they will replace.

Service said 5 days for all work at the earliest.

Also for my Ioniq 5, took one month to schedule a software fix for a recall.

Yes and no. I mean first, I get that different people have different interpretations of humor. Some people like Sam Kinison other people like Henny Youngman. Part of it is also just frustration coming through when it’s somewhat misdirected on my part (unless TXR1SMD works for Rivian?)But the comparison I was making was that to imply that the best course of action would be to sell a truck I love when the issue is correctable wasn’t a helpful suggestion. The truck isn’t the issue. Now, should I start a new thread about how they didn’t fix anything during this trip apparently and the truck came back I worse shape than it was given to them??

I do wonder if the conventional established automakers will be better As they switch to EV’s. Their big downside may be the loss of service revenue that they have relied on for decades. My experience with Tesla for 9 years says Tesla and other direct sellers CAN do it better but it‘s hard to do it at volume levels. Rivian is struggling even at low volume levels but as someone else mentioned maybe getting decent staff is hard. He did tell me that they have between 30-40 people working at that service center. Not knowing how many trucks they are servicing I don’t have a clue if that’s sufficient but my experience says it’s probably not.

on the upside I got to see a white R1S being delivered and a R1T with the ocean coast interior. Both looked great
small world! I was there taking delivery of my truck, and getting to see that R1S made the drive worth it.

It seems like they are seeing growing pains for sure, but the staff really went out of their way to make it a good day, and I love the R1T so far.
