Does anyone know why Rivian isn't included in the eligible list under the New York Drive Clean Rebate? Based on the description of the rebate, Rivians should be eligible for $500 as an electric vehicle with over 200 miles of range and MSRP over $42,000.

But no Rivians appear in the list of 60 eligible vehicles.

Is it because Rivian has not signed up as a dealership to offer it?
From FAQs:
Where can I buy a car that qualifies for the rebate?
Click here for a list of dealerships that have signed up to offer the Drive Clean Rebate. You can use this list to search for eligible dealerships by county and car brand. Only dealerships that have registered with the Drive Clean Rebate can offer this point-of-sale rebate. You may also want to call the dealership ahead of time to ensure that your preferred car is in stock before you visit.

I believe you are correct I believe the rebate only applies when purchased through a” regular“ Dealership

I inquired and NY is working with Rivian. They wouldn't give me any more than that. Tom

This is what I was told when I emailed NY state. If they begin to offer the rebate in the future, I hope they will make it retroactive to 2022. But I somehow doubt they will…

The NY governor recently made the announcement to ban gas gar sales by 2035.. does anyone know if there is talk of changing incentives in the near term related to that long term goal?

I think lawmakers need to ask themselves "Are we trying to incentivize EV Adoption, or the dealership model, or U.S. rare earth mining?" if it is any of the latter there would seem to be better ways than to piggyback the incentives onto consumer EV purchases.
To be honest I get the feeling from the people I talk to that dislike EV's the dislike comes more from the governments incentivizing/ mandating future sales of them than the actual concept of driving an EV. I believe EV's are already better than most of the comparable ICE alternatives now and those that aren't will be within the decade so there really is no need for gov't intervention at this point to push adoption except maybe for public information campaigns to clear up confusion around certain misconceptions. In short, my preference for the gov't is keep your incentives and simply tax me less to begin with or better yet spend it on improving infrastructure that benefits the whole country.

New Jersey's full sales tax credit for any EV makes it almost worth it to move to that hell-hole!
