With only 2-months left in the 2nd quarter I don’t see how Rivian is going to meet its production target of 15k R1 trucks/SUV’s for 2022.

That works out to 312.5 vehicles per week, 62.5 vehicles per day to stay on target.
Likely why they are pushing the r1s out and doing more batching in order to speed up R1T production. For comparison, Ford has built 2000 Lightnings and is now averaging 400 to 450 a week. 0 deliveries yet though.

We went by there today. Lot is pretty full of R1T's. There was a car carrier loading up R1T's from the lot in the picture.

Hopefully all the R1S are inside or somewhere protected. Bad weather predicted for Central IL today.

15000 Total consumer vehicles for 2022
1410 produced from Jan - Mar 8
2553 produced in Q1 (Mar 31)
12447 Remaining for 2022
4149 per quarter (~75 work days per quarter, 49.6 work weeks / year, 6 day weeks)
~55 vehicles per day.

The end of Q1(19 days) had a production rate of 60 vehicles per day ([2553 - 1410] / 19). I'm not seeing an issue here, assuming they can keep up the supply of parts.

The only variable is if they produced a significant amount of ECVs in Q1 (which we didn't see many in photos) and counted that in the 2553.

Hence their recent reshuffling to simplify things for their suppliers. My own personal theory is a lot of that is trying to outrun their chip supply as soon as possible so that they can continue to point at the suppliers for being constrained and get the suppliers to give them more chips.

...taken at normal this 4.29.22:
**photos removed at the request of Rivian**

If only they paid as much attention to the communication/transparency desires and concerns of these forums as they do searching for spy photos...

There wouldn't be a need for spy photos if we had the basic info needs lol ...and cell phone IG 5 second drive-by clips of R1S is not enough :CWL::crying:

This is the shit that pisses me off with them. They obviously closely track forums and have harmless photos like these removed but can't be bothered to address reasonable fucking questions that people have, or actually (God forbid) interact with the community directly. They wont even interact in a friendly controlled environment like the RS videos or RivanDad videos. Unless its with massive investors. The AMA was a snall heavily controlled step forward, but it's clear they have been aware of questions and false misleading information being out there for months and not done shit to clear it up.

I sort of agree but keep in mind the folks reviewing and asking for removal are low level HR or PR folks. More often it’s HR that’s following broad guidelines (ie we can fire you if you share photos of our campus or discuss x,y,z and that includes letting a photo get released by a “friend”).

Would be nice if they had a higher up processing this for “us” but that’s also a bit of micromanaging. I’m the first one to think HR is largely a worthless field but one of their core mandates is non-discrimination so it’s easier to ban all restricted area photos that didn’t get pre-approval than have a staffer arbitrarily judge what’s okay and not and then someone gets fired and they sue. It’s just not worth it for them.

That said, what I would do is hire a social media ambassador that’s a VP to help branch out to folks but the problem is that half the questions we ask about (like delays, sales numbers, etc) are still non-public so they still won’t get answered, nor should they but some folks will feel even more entitled to being answered.

Also keep in mind that you have investors and competitors lurking on these forums wanting to also get non-public info for their own benefit…

What kills me is Rivian's insane definition of "restricted area". These parking lots are visible from public property. How is that a restricted area?

Now if they had a privacy fence or tent set up to block the view, sure call it restricted.

Even the government isn't stupid enough to claim things viewable from public spaces are "restricted"

That would explain the surge of PBAs being sent out.

Looks like Rivian didn’t learn much about distribution and delivery last quarter.
I am not criticizing Rivian, but....they bought this plant in Normal a number of years ago with the goal of shipping vehicles in late 2020. Sure, COVID, supply delays, blah blah, but nothing over the last 3 years should have prevented them from recruiting people with the logistical skills to deliver product to the customer.

It is like they were building a house, but never thought far ahead to realize that at some point they would be done with the roof and need to put gutters on.

I know it is not easy, but from the outside looking in, their plan of execution on the customer service side appears to beg for streamlining. Logistics planning is not constrained by lack of supplies.

Again, it’s the HR department doing blanket enforcement for the most part. Employees were also barred from talking about specific range and charge rates. You saw some over broad interpretations of that (from HR) with some employees deleting posts from their insta and otherwise.

if this pic was taken by a non-employee from a public area (pretty sure it wasnt) then it’s silly for admins to remove the pic here. I’m sort is sad we don’t have more “spy” photos on here like the Tsla/q folks did.

I’ve posted a lot, the admins eventually remove them when Rivian requests. No earthly idea why.
