Esker Silver Paint Sample Closeup Photos

I finally got to demo drive the R2. They had a Catalina Cove and a Glacier White outside and a Half Moon Grey inside at the Fishers, Indiana Rivian Space.

If everything goes well I’ll be getting the R2 Standard Long-Range in Esker Silver. I put my photographic skills to the test and took a closeup of the sample and another showing how the light reflects off of the body curves. Of course it was inside and I forgot to ask the attendant if I could take it outside in the sun, but still cool nonetheless. I really tried to capture the metallic flake. Enjoy!

Here is Esker on an overcast day..definitely a light blue undertone present. Would characterize as a light Limestone/ Pewter tone color in with overcast sky. The pictures don't serve justice. You definatly have to see it in person. Have yet to see in person in direct sunlight and if the blue undertone comes out more of it if disappears.

Anyone know the average thickness of Rivians paint?

I think it looks great. Clean and bright. I bet it will reflect heat well, too. I can’t wait until next Spring/Summer.

Anyone know the average thickness of Rivians paint?

Rivian's paint thickness averages around 3.9 mils, which is considered normal for most vehicles. This thickness is comparable to other automakers like Tesla and Honda, which typically range from 3.5 to 4.0 mils.

I’m leasing a Tesla Model 3 and I have to say I think the paint is very thin. I got some rock chips within the first few months and you could see silver marks under the white paint. I need to get some touchup paint.

I think that’s from the lighting in the Rivian Space. I meant to take the sample outside in the sun, but got distracted by my demo drive.

It’s definitely got pewter vibes (ie darker silver, like Tesla’s), but the sample had a ton of metallic flake in it giving it a super bright reflective quality. It’s really nice paint for the included version.

Awesome! I think I will go this route in lieu of Catalina Cove. Catalina looks Teal to me than blue at times. Not a big fan of Teal. Wish I could have Limestone on R2, but Esker Silvers Pewter undertone helps fill that wish some. Appreciate you confirming!

Same! the contracts with the Black triming is awesome. I think a lot of people are overlooking this color. It is gourgous in person.
