Installed the latest VION Ocean Coast reflective shades - my review

Every shade I've seen and tested so far, and there have been a few, use the clips. Tesla uses a similar system. The clips don't really come off unless someone chooses to take them off.

The website seems to only have the black one. Is there another one I'm not seeing that has a reflective surface?

I ordered gray. There were several drop-down menus to select between R1S and R1T, black or gray.

Thanks! So the grey one has the reflective "outside" surface? I have a black interior so I'd prefer black to show on the inside.

Does the black one not have a reflective surface on the outside facing side?

they both have a reflective surface on the outside.

The black one shows black textile inside and the grey one shows grey textile inside.

Thanks Carsly! I just ordered a Vion roofshade after reading this thread and watching the review.

I just had the front 2 windows tinted with XPEL to match the rear windows percentage film.

Even though I wasn’t planning on it, I also had the windshield tinted with the 55% film. I had the factory front windshield tint with my iX and I enjoyed it year round, but especially in the summer.

The night visibility was excellent with my iX, but I haven’t driven at night yet after just getting this film added to my R1T.

I will let you know after the windshield film is fully cured and I have driven at night, both city and rural driving.

In my 2024 iX, the factory tint was great for reducing headlight glare from oncoming vehicles at night. Hoping for similar effects on the R1T.

My sun shade arrived yesterday and took all over 5 minutes to unpack and install! Yeah!!!! Just in time for the next "heat dome" to roll over us!

installation really couldn’t be easier. Let us know how it does in terms of reducing heat in the cabin.

I also find for smaller passengers in the second and/or third rows they tend to fare better on longer trips without the sun constantly beating down on them.

BIG difference! Ran errands to the local strip mall / grocery store. 85-ish outside. BRIGHT sun beating down. In the super market for about 40 minutes. Cabin was still comfortable when I got back in! I like it!

I was surprised how compact these came; both were just a little bigger than a dinner plate. Once unfurled, it made perfect sense!

In cooler months I fold them up, zip them in the case, and toss them into the sub-trunk on torp of my compact spare so I have them the next season. Super easy.
