Done, RJ. Done. Going to look at iX, or something. Right now, I am pretty pissed.
I just configured the iX to my R1s specs and it totaled $97k… the same as my new priced Rivian. The Rivian is much larger interior for my teenagers and much more offroad capable which I do need. The price increase sucks but realistically this is the new normal. i’m looking for the same thing happening to anyone preordering any desirable car -whether it is EV or not. Lightning Chevy EV and the new Ram EV preorders will also be shocked as their prices skyrocket as delivery nears. Count on it.

The *only* reason? I disagree. It's still the same vehicle before the price increase. Plenty of people will decide it was worth it at 78 and it'll be worth it at 84.
Mine jumped from ~80k to 100k.
not a 6k jump like you mentioned. It’s not worth it

.....I can still get an R1S at about the same price as before if I do explore, dual motor, la silver (which I was still debating on anyway), and black instead of ocean coast interior (which went from included to 1500).....
Site says dual motor deliveries begin 2024. Are you really willing to wait through ten months of 2022, and the entirety of 2023 just to see if Rivian might potentially hit their first deadline ever in 2024?

From what I understand Rivian is developing and manufacturing the dual motors and at this point I would not be the least bit surprised for sometime in 2024 to eventually be announced as sometime in 2025 (probably via a perfunctory email sometime after Christmas 2024).

You also have to add a tonneau cover if you want one -- the $3,000 powered tonneau was included on the Adventure/LE trims previously.
I have the adventure trim. It doesn’t list it as a separate charge for me, but I also cannot add it to my configuration—the button is ghosted out. Im going to cancel anyway. They jacked up the price 25% on me… it’s not worth it

I wonder how Rivian's bait and switch will sit with the SEC?
Why would the SEC care about a price increase? The price has always been stated as an estimate. Heck its still is.

At least you have an idea what to expect for service/repairs from a Legacy manufacturer. Rivian is still unknown...expensive...but unknown.

You need to read Laura Schwab's lawsuit. Rivian mislead investors prior to the IPO.

By that time the R1 platform is creeping on a 10 year old platform. Assume successful ramp to hit deadlines. I AM OUT ! Too old at that point. Hate to say for this level of coin F150 platinum is a better value.

This was at the very top of my price range, and now I'm out. It was nerve wracking enough to spend 54k on my model S 5 years ago. I will say I don't ever want to go back to a gas car. Just trying to figure out what to replace our minivan with. I don't know what will happen with my cybertruck reservation price wise.

Yeah, changing config to 2024+ / dual motor is my "soft cancel". There's no way I'm paying what my original reservation was so it was either a soft or hard cancel. Lots will change by 2024 and likely will have really canceled by then, but can at least wait and see a little while.

It's institutional investors that will drive the stock price, not the in comparison piddly amount pre-order holders have invested. Institutional investors likely won't care about the short-term drop in pre-orders and will instead focus on the faster path to profitability on a per-unit basis. Even if half the pre-orders cancelled, Rivian is still booked through 2022 at least, and into 2023. What's the problem then if you're an investor? Plenty of time to drum up new sales. Plenty of 90k+ vehicles sell in the US, including those Teslas you're all so quick to jump ship for ?
Will all due respect to the gamut of emotions running but, this ?

Not overlooking the reality of the dialogue though from several perspectives:

- Rivian: “it’s business, not personal”

- Reservationists: “it’s 2022…business is personal”

- Stockholders: “is it profitable?”

- A normal Joe trying to figure out how to pay for increasing food costs in “single digit” inflation: “who cares, it’s a friggin luxury toy/car”

The last point is very important, Rivian has never been a mainstream product. Even at 67k, that is a luxury car price point.

I only reserved in Oct Sep 2021, so I feel terribly for you early-adopters. I'd been following Rivian news half-heartedly for years, but only recently got a good enough job that I could "treat" myself to a nice EV to replace my old ICE vehicle. I'm doing a "soft-cancel" for now, too, by downgrading almost everything, with the expectation of straight-up cancelling next week after I think on it, for a while. For me, it's the seats. I ordered an R1S because I wanted a lot of enclosed space (I'm not a huge fan of pick-up trucks, anymore). I have no family, so WTF do I need a 7-seat layout for? And sure, you can put the seat down, but it still takes up a ton of room.

That, combined with the motors (screw you, Rivian) and the range (screw you, Rivian), I'm 95%+ convinced I'm out. I just wish I hadn't bought the goddamn stock. Shame on me for believing the hype, I guess.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the scale of the actual increase - is it 6k or 15k+? The starting price for an Adventure R1S is now 78k (vs. 75.5k), and both the quad motor and large pack are 6k options each.

People might still find it worth it but (I will update my post accordingly) for me, with a 15k increase, the only reason to keep my reservation is to resell.
My vehicle went from $78,900 to $94,900. They are offering cheaper "options" in the duel motor pack instead of the quad, but then you have to wait another two years minimum to receive it.

They also increased the price of my paint color and all of the options I had (spare wheel, roof rack, etc.). They can cry inflation, but it is really just company greed. Over the past year, the inflation rate was 7%. The vehicle price increase was 20.5%.
