I will cancel if the price hike sticks. It just doesn’t make sense at this price point.

1) tight second row legroom
2) no charging network
3) I expect early adopter challenges
4) 2 years from original order
5) at almost 100k, there are too many other options to consider

I don't even know at this point! Love what the truck can do but don't love the way it looks in the front. Honestly at this price point I can get the Hummer EV, crab steering and 11k torque. Or maybe just relent and buy a Tesla....I'm so dissapointed. That and my RIvian stock is dropping like crazy. Are they trying to go out of business?

My reply, not sure I trust RJ or Rivian anymore. What stops them from deciding to charge for features in the future? What stops them from changing the 0-60 time via a software upgrade and making us pay incremental charges for performance? What are they going to charge incremental as autonomous driving features come out? My price increase was $17k, after waiting for 3 years. Can I afford it? Yes Do I want to support this brand anymore? No

Launch Edition pre-order customer since Feb 2019 here. We have mostly been super positive supporters and evangelist of the brand. Last week I learned my delivery should be available in April and was thrilled.

I logged in my build site today to find a $16,500 increase and was gutted.

Why should it be legal for a car company to accept preorders that marketed one price, then PR a their preorder numbers to fund-raise literally BILLIONS of dollars that ended up driving a historic IPO only to pull a bait and switch 2 months before delivery for only segment of pre-orders that are NOT employees.

My R1T (best described as vaporware -promised value at unachieved price) build that I placed a preorder deposit for initially showed $89,000 (full camping).

After reviewing economy factors, war, etc, we decided that losing the federal incentive didn’t make sense, thus downgraded to $80,000 white with kitchen Launch Edition.

Imagine as a customer waiting 3 years with a price in mind and showing up 2 months before delivery and seeing the price increase from $80,000 to $96,500 ????

This represents a 20.62% increase before the tax benefit. Rivians’ leadership business decision just changed the net cost of the R1T by $24,000 or a total of 30% to a portion of its customers. HOW IS THIS LEGAL!!!!

Rivian and RJ HAD my trust. I respect them for their thoughtful engineering, purpose driven mission and sustainability goals.

Instead it’s clear now that the leadership. Including RJ is either incompetent or complicit in price gouging.

If this decision is not repealed for Launch owners, I ask as a customer and stockowner that a leadership change is made starting with a reduction in role for RJ and team responsible for pricing.

Flat out lairs. To keep our prices in place it would cost the business roughly $440 Million.

Do this and delay the Georgia plant. Your demand just dropped significantly.

It's legal, because we all agreed to it. There were no guarantees of price and they explicitly stated that.

They may take an about face on grandfathering to stem the tidal wave of order cancellations.
I just can't see that happening, and if it does, it will put in to question their ability to make ANY sound decisions.

As a 2018 reservation holder, I snuck in under the price increase and therefore am the 1/6(!) voting to keep my reservation at the moment. Over the last many months as car/truck prices have become crazy stupid, the R1T felt more and more like a bargain to me. Last month I was contemplating what *two* cars I might alternatively purchase for the same price as my R1T config (~78k) that yielded summative capability... truck + EV car. The two combos I might have pursued (Ridgeline + ID.4 or Ridgeline + EV6) exceeded my current R1T config price by quite a bit, and would probably now be comparable with the price increase. I don't love the way they've handled the roll out, but I still believe in Rivian and that this Swiss army knife of a vehicle is the right one for me... though, I totally empathize with the feelings being expressed here today. Hoping they make it right somehow...

I cancelled my R1S order. My reasons are:

1) NEW. The price increase is too step. 97k is my current price point now. This is too much.
2) NEW. Forcing me to buy a 3rd row. I do not want this.
3) EXISTING. The fast charging network is does not exist. Was hoping this would get better over time, but hard to trust.
4) EXISTING. No Apple CarPlay. Was willing to ignore this.
5) EXISTING. Poor cameras. Was willing to ignore this.
I was giving them a pass on the cameras, but not for 90k+

They need to do better. Especially if their suppliers are charging them 2022 money for 2010 cameras ? and then have the audacity to increase on their iPhone 4 camera quality.

Can we just take a minute to recognize that in this poll, of arguably their most fervent customers, over 40% have indicated that they are going to cancel their reservations?

That's mind-blowing and if I were in executive leadership at Rivian, I would be shitting my pants. I can't imagine, under any circumstances, they are prepared for a 40%+ defection rate amongst preorder holders.

Additionally, another 40%+ are seriously considering it. To me, these numbers (of just us - the idiots who care enough to talk about Rivian) combined indicate that between 50-60% of ALL preorder holders are basically going to say, "fuck this" and peace out.

If Ford manages to launch a Maverick BEV, Rivian might end up being a van maker for Daddy Bezos.

Legal to knowingly keep prices low until AFTER an IPO. Reuters: Rivian’s former head of sales and marketing, Laura Schwab, said in a lawsuit against the company in November over alleged “gender discrimination and retaliation” that Rivian has acknowledged a need to raise the vehicle prices “after the IPO”.

What really surprised me was thr $2,000 for ocean coast and $900 for spare!
Don't forget that your paint color also went up by a thousand. Thanks for pointing this out. I didn't get a screenshot of my original pricing to compare, but I couldn't remember opting to pay a few thousand for color options. Now I see why. Total increase for R1S for me looks to be about 15K. Yet another dream dashed. No way I'm spending over 90K on this.

After thinking about it for a few hours I just decided to cancel. Even if they decide to honor the price for people who pre-ordered before a certain date, I've lost all trust I've had with Rivian. I was hoping at the very least to have the R1T as a backup in case Ford tries to screw me over with the Lightning, but that is no longer an option. Now it looks like I'll either get the Lightning, or have to wait a few years for the Silverado EV or Cybertruck(still doubt it ever goes to production). I'm disappointed in Rivian and RJ. I was hoping Rivian would be a great alternative to Tesla, but I guess not. Elon may do a lot of crazy things, but at least he is focused on making Tesla succeed. I don't believe RJ has the same drive.

Its quite a number and seeing other posts of confirmed cancels backs up some of the sentiment.

Its quite a journey as someone that has followed Rivian since the LA Auto Show.
-Wow that's nice but no price announced and $1k reservation is steep. Figured a price north of 100k or something less where lots of critical options are missing
-Early 2019, Fk it, I'm in, let's see what the price turns out to be
-Wait
-2019 event in my area to see them, cool. Talked to a bunch of people, still no price announced
-No info whatsoever
-2020, Covid, plant closure, delay
-Configurator opens, relative value price announced with no gotcha options
-Wait
-Join the form to get any possible info
-Broken Promises scattered covered and smothered in delays
-Actual Fking deliveries being scheduled, OMG
-Price hike so hard RJ should be blushing

So, idk what to do. My original expectation is met after 3 years of delays and broken promises and the way they did it makes us all feel like we lost something. They promised a wonder-truck at a relative value then changed the deal just as most of us finally got close. To make it feel even worse, they just drop an e-mail like hey friend, hope your doing well. If you want the truck now you have to eat a bag of d!cks. BYE!

Nothing is easy, inflation is real, but damn they f'd this up and pissed everyone off.
