DIY darkout package

I had placed an order for a 2025 R1S with ocean interior and the darkout package. A shop vehicle popped up that met our needs except for the darkout. Decided to pull the trigger and diy the package using plastidip and TWRAP chrome delete.

When did you put the order in. Are those range 22s.

Looks great. Well done. The only thing I notice that my blackout package has that you didn’t do was the below trunk lower silver section. Also curious about those wheels. Are those the 22 range with the plastic removed? I have those with the plastic and love the look but yours looks even better!

They are the range 22s with the cover removed. I used the satin black wheel wrap kit from twraps.

I ordered early August. I kept seeing a lot of bright package cars in shops. Rarely saw any darkout packages. Figured it would be awhile before those started shipping. Saw a shop car available on a thursday, brought it home the following wednesday.

Right! I’m still trying to figure out the best way to delete the chrome on the front and back bumpers.

I believe that those pieces are painted. Probably the best approach would be to remove them and either paint them, or have a body shop paint them with the desired blackout paint. They can adjust the gloss to whatever you want. If you paint them, an automotive paint store should be able to match the gloss level to what you already have. They can also give you advice on the primer to use and how to prep the panels.

I guess you could also go to a wrap shop and have them put a wrap on the panels you want blacked out??? They could probably wrap things without removing the panels.

Looks pretty straightforward and not too difficult. I'd love to do this as my last Jeep was "blacked out" however I'm guessing with a lease they probably don't want it altered that far?? Anyone else with a lease do it or ask Rivian about it?

You can peel off plasti-dip when done. It comes off easily.
